He can't be retried under the Double Jeopardy statue. - fastek
Apparently there are some work arounds. I'm not so sure about that, but I was told that there was a white supremacist that was acquitted twice before finally being convicted the third time. New evidence was found after the first and second trials. I don't believe they'd be able to charge him with the murders, but they could charge him with assault with a deadly weapon, or negligent homicide or something else bullpoop, but if I'm laying odds it's like 500 to 1 that anything actually comes of it because of the lack of chain of evidence alone. |

The cop was off-duty but active at the time. Now he's retired. He called in recently to get some document numbers regarding the case and mentioned he was going to engrave those details onto a frame where he was going to display (probably try to sell) the knife. Investigating dept. was informed, knife was confiscated and is undergoing testing. Authorities are now considering filing charges against the retired cop. - fastek
Ahh, ok, the article I read wasn't sure if he was off-duty or retired, just that he was working security for a movie nearby when the knife was found. That's some scumbag poop that he did, but the LAPD wasn't/isn't exactly known for their integrity. At the very least it's evidence tampering and/or obstruction/impeding an investigation. |

The scouting was after the deadline which was after the game. They were clearly scouting for the off season. I don't see why Fowler couldn't be a top 4 defneceman here and with our current pathetic D core he'd be the top pairing Left guy
If there were so many under the radar top pairing defenceman every team would have one. And they wouldn't be so difficult to get. - bluengold12
It's easy to look at stats and assume we need scoring ............ but we do in fact really need better D-men. But this is not a complete shock since any fan of this team knew coming into this season that would be an area that needed to be addressed. I think the consensus was our offense would counter-act the weak defense. Of course the offense being what it is ...........it amplifies the problems on defense.
My question is ........ since we obviously need to improve on offense in the offseason, is it likely we can address both areas and go into 2016-17 guns blazin? |

Source? Best ive found is that van boxmeer was at the oilers ducks game on the 26th.
Fowler could absolutely be a top 4 guy here and would be an upgrade over all our other 2nd pairers but it doesnt solve the main problem. you can live with a make shift 2nd pair involving some combo of pysyk, bogo or mccabe but none of them are top pairing guys.
If the deal is moving one of those 3 (bogo mostly) out to bring in fowler im all for it but it shouldn't be the only d-man we make a deal for.
Edit: under the radar to the public, guys we dont see or hear much of because they aren't as flashy or don't get as much TV coverage. |

Care to elaborate? I don't know much about him .......... - fastek
He's a cheaper Myers. Id take him on my team, doesn't solve the need for a top pairing d-man. |

Im very confident that would be a mistake, for both teams actually.
There's also no concrete evidence of us going after him. Some weak rumours here and there but nothing like Kane/O'Reilly - Sabresfan-365
It's real tough to get concrete rumors because of the whole tampering thing. I think he's(Fowler) the most likely of the Ducks D-men to be moved just because he'd be the cheapest. I wouldn't mind taking a run at Montour either, but I have a feeling he's Pysyk 2.0. |

Fowler and Vatanen basically offer the same thing to Anaheim, one is already on a decent contract though. And if he is in fact the cheapest to get, it's doubtful he'd land them the forward or draft pick they would want. |

Depends on where we draft. If we get a top 4 pick that should benefit our offense. If we get 5th and pick the D-Man who may be ready for the NHL that could help too. But regardless we need to be picking in the top 5 to get an impact from the draft. I think we also trade for a top 4 Dman that couples with a hopefully healthy Ennis (should he not be traded) Should help out in those regards. Hopefully we get rid of some of the dead weight too. |

I don't remember. Just know they were on the scouting sheet the game after the deadline. Came from a legit Buffalo hockey beat reporter.
We're not getting rid of Bogosian. 4 more years left. Huge cap hit. No movement clause.... He's likely here to stay.
At this point any upgrade is an upgrade. If Murray can get Fowler for a 3rd and Foligno or something a little sweeter for them I'd do that all day. We need to improve our D in general so I don't care where Fowler should slot in. I just know he'd be our 2nd best guy here.

Improvement can come from within too. On a good team mccabe, pysyk and even bogo are projected as 2nd pairing guys and the bottom pair is an easy fix in FA. The hole is at the top and Fowler doesnt cut it. Would I take him for a steal of a price like foligno and a 3rd? Absolutely, but I wouldn't stop looking for a top pairing guy. |

I just don't see how you get a top pairing guy unless you give up one of -
Eichel, Reinhart, 1st round pick, O'Riley, Kane. None of which are likely to be traded unless we end up picking 6-8th. Even then we don't know what Murray would do. |

Might not be enough. If we're drafting after 5. Unless there's a player Ducks love.
I honestly don't even think he's available so we should stop talking about him.
Move on to Cam Fowler, Sami Vaatanen and Shea Theodore. - bluengold12
I agree with 365 that after pick 5 or 6 im more interested in moving the pick. The problem, as you pointed out, is as the immediate value of the pick for us drops, it drops for other teams too. Its unbelievable how much a few stupid wins at the end of a not great season can ruin the value of a pick. I assume from what anaheim fans have said about hampus, that they would only be interested in moving him for the pick if its a lottery pick. I dont want to come out of the summer with no additional help on d and no difference makers on wing. It really sucks that the best way to assure this is to lose a bunch more games to end the season or hope for luck in the lottery- which im certainly not counting on. |

Poor Columbus .............. they don't start out the year ....... what was it? 0-9?
Instead just split those games and they are fighting for a playoff spot...........
I love the NHL and the hair splitting between the halve and the halve nots. |

If you assured me right now that we are signing stamkos, and anaheim would take our first round pick for lindholm, id take it. Sure, its a bad look if the draft is here, but we are worlds better almost overnight. |

I'm sorry but you're not giving up on two 2nd overall picks from the last two years for anything short of a top 5-10 defenceman in the NHL.
You're not trading O'Riley a guy you just got and who has a massive contract.
I guess you could trade Kane. But he's got a pretty decent sized contract too and has only played a year here in Buffalo. I'm sure Murray wants to see more of him. As far as your first. You draft in the top 4 you take the pick. I don't care. Unless again you're getting a top 5-10 defenceman in the NHL |

They are already saying that there is no way it is involved in the crime . It is a pocket knife such as is used by a handyman or construction worker . FX is behind this somehow to get publicity for the show . Plain and simple.

I wouldn't doubt it at all. It's probably one of those viral marketing techniques that nobody understands, but at least nobody got hurt unlike some of those bullpoop ones, well except maybe the Goldman's. |
