I don't think he is going 4... Matthews, the Fins, and Chychryn (sp?) will go before him. - CoHo_to_B-Lo
If Buffalo had the 4th pick, you think so? That's more what I mean than just overall |

You think they pass on Tkachuk if they get the 4 spot? - stashu
If we pick 4th,
I'm pretty confident we keep the pick
Idk if it would be Tkachuck or Chychrun though
If we pick 6th or worse I think we try to trade the pick |

Thy might. I have read where some say he's ready others say he isn't. He isn't guaranteed to be a top 5 pick. But there is still lots of hockey to be played.
I would prefer a top 3 pick just to be sure. - Stripes77

Well, it's not like you guys didn't already have Hall as a very good player to build around, and Eberle as a vet who has done well. - stashu
Too many forwards with no physical play plus a crap blueline (esp the right side) and iffy goaltending till Talbot turned it around does not make for success...now adding some size which we have done and some RHD help.....now thats a different story all together...plus I guess some McDavid kid I hear he is somewhat decent |

I think it matters who is picking before us. I think if Edmonton does not pick first(which they probably will) they would take the D-man right? That would kind of change everything. I wouldn't mind Nylander or that Pierre guy if we fall to 5-6-7 range. |

Well yeah, that's what I mean. You compliment the Sabres for having some pieces now to build around, and all I meant was Edmonton had some as well (Hall, Eberle, Draisitl (sp?), Nurse). Landing McDavid was amazing, but winning the lottery again would kind of suck for you guys because it would be a crazy reach to leave Matthews on the board and he's not really what your team needs. |

Again, I'm not up on prospects, but in the scheme of things, I think anyone taking a d-man at 2 would seem a little crazy with both Fins there who have seemed to be hyped all year.
I think ideal spots for the 2 teams would be Buffalo 2-3 and Edmonton 4-5 |

No the last thing we need is another forward...I could care less if its Matthews....im getting real sick of this rebuild and we want to start seeing results...trade our pick and trade Nuge for some help...that gets it going in the right direction

All I know is if i'm an EDM fan, i want the D-Man or trade the pick for one. I know its hard to pass on theses guys but where has that got them the last 10 years? |

We make a run at Hamonic this summer then maybe talk to the Blues about Shattenkirk or something along those lines....we have the assets to get those deals done

Best player is theoretically the best pick, but another C makes things ugly in Buffalo. As much as I'd like them to finally win one, I kind of want the 2 or 3 spot more in a way |

Im right there with you, i understand Matthews is good. But, not what we need. Unless he is ok with being a full time winger, or if Jack is ok with moving to wing(FO%) is god awful. Then do it. But you would have to be sure that would work. |

I want the pick traded to Anaheim for Lindholm.
He is only 22, already a good top 3 D-man.
Isin't that what you are looking for in a top pick anyways?

Would also be hampered if this push for Stamkos were to come to fruition too.
Stamkos, Eichel, O'Reilly, and the consensus #1 pick all centers. ouch |

You want a top 3 pick to possibly be turned into a top-end 2nd line d-man? I'd rather go for the Fins if I was picking 2 or 3, I just think it's a bigger need.
I'd think there might be some other way to get that "top-3 d-man" rather than use the #2 or 3 overall in this draft. If not, you hope Murray lives up to some of his hype as a hell of a scout. |

With this teams lack of goal scoring if they traded away a top 3 pick the city would riot and in my mind rightfully so. |

I think the big issue there is that ROR and Stamkos are set on wanting to play center.Which they should, you then have to make sure you keep your young guys happy and make sure they are ok with learning a new position and buying into it. |

I would trade the pick for Lindholm, but only if it's outside the top 4 or 5.

65 games played
6 games being shutout
16 games scoring 1 goal
that's 1/3 of the season so far scoring 1 or fewer goals.
14 other games where they scored 2 goals
44 goals in those 36 (slightly more than half) of the season so far.

Plenty of guys are drafted having been a Center & end up playing wing
I'm not too worried about all that
Give me the most talent, & we'll make it work
And if there's a guy that doesn't "fit" in...
Then Murray can always trade him
We've already seen that he likes to wheel & deal
Plus, he's got plenty of assets to package to get whoever he does think will slot into whatever role we need filled |

Lack of scoring comes from lack of chances. Lack of chances come from the fact that this team spends too much time in its own end and when they do recover the puck their zone exits are awful. A great puck moving defensive defenseman can help with this. |

I don't watch the defensive play/zone exits as closely as many of you guys might, but I see the zone entries more and they're horrendous most of the time. |
