I think he is doing it right. Instead of overpaying for "hockey deals" at the deadline wait until the draft. There are some teams in cap hell come summer time and it is going to play right into Murray's hand.

Schedule looks to easy to be sure of a top 3 pick. Can't be sure of Stamkos when Toronto is in the mix. And lindholm? Ducks could just trade vatanen instead and keep him.

This is sort of what im getting at though. In the other deals Murray was involved in we had control.

Kane deal was too perfect. trading roster players for an injured player in the middle of the tank? People had his jersey made before the rumours started.

O'Reilly? Money issue lasting for months with his name popping up in buf rumours with an ownership just itching at the chance to flex its financial strength (on a useful player this time)

Ducks may get a good offer from us, but it would have to better than what they'd get for Vatanen + keeping lindholm.
