Take what the idiots at Canucks Army say with a grain of salt. They are wrong more often than not. Benning and Linden said cap space isn't an issue so I'll take their word for it
- CanuckDon

fair enough, i'll take your word on canucksarmy.

though, i wouldn't be so trusting of your management. i don't think they've proven to be salary cap wizards thus far...

The contract will be an ELC, I can't see how much negotiation is going on.

I hope you are right but at this point I have a hard time believing what the mgmt group is saying in the media. Their actions will be what I judge them on.

- belcherbd

I dont think there is much negotiation to be had either, I think that it has something to do with him being free to sign after his KHL season ended. The rest is just bonuses and how many years they want to give him on his ELC

**Not responding directly to you, FYI

I get that JB and TL arent the most experience guys, but it isnt like they gutted the whole office and hired new staff that have zero idea how to do their jobs. Give the team a little more credit to know how much cap space they have left and what they can spend. Hell, I bet the Aquillini's accountant can tell them how much of the $70 million they have spent to date or even the league office. The competency of management isnt nearly as poor as some people make it out to be

Is Weber taking up a roster spot and cap space? If so, why not dump him back down again? D for D.
- YeOldTimer

I think he had to be on the Comets roster on TDL. I leave that stuff up to MGMT

good teams actively use the salary cap to their advantage, not just to get by and know how cap room they have.

i haven't really seen benning and crew utilize the cap to their advantage.

First of all, Toronto is not a good team (in case you aren't sure). Secondly, Benning and Linden don't handle cap related matters. They have an experienced team to advise them. I suspect we will be just fine, but thanks for your concern

Only live stream the event when winning? Really bad PR and message on their behalf. Sorry but they make sales from many other ways then just season tickets. Many people from around province comes and watches canucks games and this sends people a bad message that they have restricted media coverage just to season tickets.

I imagine they knew a bunch of people were going to be upset and didn't want to livestream their fans questioning them.

Seems like great exposure with live streaming probably would have just fed the flames.

I'm not 100% but I think that only players who were in the minors at the time of the deadline (gaunce) can be sent back down.

That's pretty funny. I've read the book a couple of times and watched all the movies several times and never would have thought of that scene.
