I wonder if there will be a shake up with the top two?
- VANTEL

The shake up should be coming regardless I would hope.

Edler Hamonic ---big minutes D
Hutton Hammer ---big minutes D...hammer can play R
Tryamkin Sbisa --- try sbisa on R and hope for better outcome than on L

Really starting to hate all these sketchy contractual loopholes.

The possibilities of Tyramkin, Demko and Boeser hitting free agency is absurd.
Not a great position for a "rebuilding" team to be in considering the cupboards are still pretty bare

agreed.

Will you hate that more than Edmonton winning another draft lottery? or how about having a young prospect toying with the OHL on a nightly basis but not eligible to play in the AHL, but eligible for the NHL?

Who were the geniuses who came up with these rules.

I'll try, can you pass me over a pair of those blinders?
They seem to be quite effective.

I believe Boeser has to be signed by Aug. 15th 2018, Demko 2017....I don't understand why people are concerned?

That's three years to sign Demko and four to sign Boeser.

Not concerned per-se of losing the likes of them, just generally bewildered that it's even a possibility.

"If unsigned by June 1, 2016, Nikita Tyramkin would become a UFA. Due to the fact that the Tryamkin was drafted in his 20-year-old season and D+2 season, he isn't subject the 'standard' 4 years of rights for European players"

Just think its pretty stupid that this kindof avenue is allowed to exist, be it the Euro or NCAA loophole.

Furthermore, the fact that it's 2016 and the likes of Boeser/Demko can't even attend the full-camp/pre-season is a joke.

Yes it all has to do with them playing their senior year of college and most opt out and sign a contract well before then.

Here is a link for better clarification.

Every player you draft, CHL or NCAA or otherwise, can become property of another team if they choose not to sign with your team. If they sign they sign, if they don't they don't....the chance you take on every kid and that's why you have amateur scouts, they get a feed on these types of things.

I understand the rules, and think they should be the same for every player, CHL or NCAA when drafted as an 18 year old. Re-entering the draft is what CHL players have to do, same should go for the NCAA guys.

It's rare that a college guy doesn't sign with the team that drafted him though. It's usually the kids that didn't attend college directly from high school where you see this, neither Demko nor Boeser fall into that category though.

I'm not totality sure of this but, doesn't the CHL at-least have more of a deterrent in place as the player would have to re-enter the draft?

Where-as, the NCAA player actuality has the opportunity to personally select which team he wishes to play for.

Yes...a CHL player has to re-enter the draft where as an NCAA player becomes a free agent, but they've changed the rules (dates) to make it harder for them to do so.

That said, if the said CHL player goes undrafted, he also becomes a UFA.

You have two years to sign a CHL player, I believe, and you have four years to sign an NCAA player that enters college after his senior high school year.

If said kid doesn't attend college directly following his senior high school year then you have two years to sign them, because they can "opt-out" of their senior year. The date moved from June 1st to Aug. 15, after the July 1st free agent period, which makes it tougher to sign them.

I'd better go read Thunders link to make sure I'm right now lol

Yep, In Boeser's case he would hypothetically be a high valued pick and would go from playing in Van to being drafted by the likes of Arizona or Edm

I dont think his KHL contract ends until April 30th, so technically he's still under contract, which might be a small issue to get him out of it?

Yeah Canucks want to burn a year of Entry level. In May Canucks will be on vacation.

They need to find a loophole

Maybe we can send them Chris Higgins and Burrows on Loan for next year
