Why do they care if a 5/6 player gets NHL experience and go through all the troubles tying to get him here now.

I know all the excuses you are going to give but to me I don't accept any of the reasons. If I am a GM and he is targeted to be an AHL player or 5/6 I let him follow the proper protocol

There is something about him they like and they are trying to speed up the process.

We can discuss all day but I don't see any NHL GM doing that with a half hearted interest .

dude all you have to do is.... PLAY YOUR 5/6 MORE MINUTES IF THEY EARN IT. just because they are penciled in on the 3rd line doesnt mean they cant move up, this isnt NHL16.... you can just play the guy more minutes if he's decent. If they guy is playing well in the KHL... they want to bring him over, that's how a hockey system works.

Players are designated 5/6 by their play at the NHL level, you don't just blanket statement this guy is this or this guy is that….he'll get slotted in where his play dictates he should be. I 100% guarantee he'll start, under Willie Desjardins, with limited minutes just like every other kid that he's had.

Sorry just saw this, I agree with you, he's a good pp players, but certainly not this year. How is he different that Vrbata? Getting all of his points on the powerplay (gifted ice time) and letting more responsible players mke up for him, which is unacceptable for top pairing guy. If he isnt getting like 0.5 Points per game, he's not worth it, he's at 52 gp with 20 points, terrible for an "offensive" d man, that doesnt play both ends. He's -8 with 111 shots on goals... terrible. I know he's been solid over 3 years, but this year his numbers show, same with the tortorella year, when he was asked to play an honest game. I dont like players like Edler/Vrbata that look good on the scoresheet but dont make it up during the year. Edler is a country club player.

What JB is looking to do is pairing skating puck moving D with stay at home bruisers. All must be good skaters in todays NHL. Offensive ability must be there to pitch in for his partner. Hamhuis n Weber were gaping holes. D like Hutton n Larsen r what we can expect more of IMO.

love the young blood, so it's not a total loss. Especially once we start seeing more young guys on the back end.

All You have said to me today is RH RH D combos exist in the NHL .LH LH D combos exist in the NHL.

IF you play well you will get more minutes or be moved up.

If you play well in one league they will want to look at you.

Do you have anymore dribble Captain Obvious

They can do all of this after may first . There is no reason that you have showed me to break protocol to try and get him over now.

He is under contract with another team until April 30 th . Why would Canucks want him over so badly if he is a fringe player.

The answer is they wouldn't .

That's really the key, so I hope his thoughts are with you. If we can keep Edler and get some big/gritty/responsible guys on top of it, I would be happy, that would be a true rebuild on the fly, especialy considering how well we've overhauled our Forwards.

not trying to insult you here man, but you seem to have players pencilled in without seeing them play a game, and think JB is doing the same (has wille flown to russia nad seen tree himself?) like "oh Tryamkin is an 82 overall, so he must work out" -.- the real world of hockey works a little different. we arent in the playoffs, lets get our growing pains of players out of the way, so we dont wind up like a toronto/edmonton. It just means he will take up weber/barts minutes and they wil lbe healthy scratches if he outplays them, well worth the trouble if he goes into next summer knowing what to expect/ training WITH the team.

You also say obvious reason, yet offer no source, from neither the Agent, nor the team, nor the player :p

Your missing the point . It doesn't matter what you or I think of him.

They have seen something they like ( the Canucks) otherwise let his current contract expire , the next day sign him to the NHL

Greed. Tryamkin wants a 2nd pay chq this year, signing May 1st means the 1st pay chq isn't until Oct. and if he waits until May he may as well wait until July and then become a UFA.

I don't think he is going anywhere, and would venture to guess he could leave when the Sedins retire, if he is as shy as has been mentioned by media.

I'm not a big Edler hater, just wish we had a better option for our top pairing, wouldn't mind if he played second pairing at around 22 ish minutes a night.

- hillbillydeluxe

If he was the number 2 guy and not the number 1 guy he would be much better received in this market, the number one guy would be making 2 or 3 million more then him though. ....

Hes a solid number 2, I'd say Tanev is more a number 2/3 then Edler.

Hate me for saying it but Edler>Tanev 7 or of 10 nights.
