Good article from McIntyre. Alex Burrows is playing in his 750 th game as a Canuck. Burrows admits, he would not be surprised if tonight was the last time he wears the jersey.

So maybe the 17M includes burrows and we resign Hammer.
Another year or 2 with him to mentor Tree into a superstar might prove to be a good idea. At a bargain.....JB has leverage since he knows Hammer only wants to play here

NHL exploring possibility of raising draft age to 19

I've said for a few years they should be doing this. Go back to 19

Agree totally but going up 1yr is a harder obstacle than it was going down a year.
Idk how a year with a huge void could be done.

- Nighthawk

I don't know how they'd implement it, but I agree with it.

If he were to retire, do we have any sort of cap recapture penalty?

A good guy, just has lost a step and can't finish...

(guessing we won't hear him say his contract sucks )

- hillbillydeluxe

How about we retain salary and see if we can move him to NYR since AV loved him and got soooo much out of him. He hasn't been the same since AV was gone.

17m includes a Burrows buyout.
I don't see Hamhuis back due to too many D.
It would take a trade of either Edler Sbisa or Tanev.

I think Burrows was referring to any game could be his last. He suggested he knows Canucks are going to play the young guys and he understands he could be bought out in the summer.

It is 2017 not 2016

- VANTEL

Burrows wasn't part of the list but a Higgins buyout was. Burrows would bring it to 19.5

yes I realize that. I think you misunderstood....

I was referring to your 17M space from last blog I think it was. Good job on that btw.
Burrows wasnt in it but hammer was.... so I was saying if its indeed 17M the 4M could be from Burrows not Hammer.

I think vey isnt really a true NHLer. I suspect we've seen his absolute best, no improvement. JB obviously agrees as he tried to move him at tdl. We are better with someone with greater potential.

Burrows next year is a 2.5 savings if bought out. His cap hit would be 2 mil this year and 1 mil next year.

That would make 15.5 mil in cap space less whatever you spend on Hamhuis.
