I trust you info 89...don't really like it though, mostly for the long term implications that have been expressed by myself over the past week or so...and now others including those on this page.
I think it would be great to watch the team with him over the next 3-4 years...then several years of regrets. If they do go in on him and are successful, then go all in and get the necessary support structure that enables them to win it all multiple times. No holding back, go for it! - IonSabres
Everyone says it won't work and will screw us up down the road, well the Hawks have kept there core players and filled in and it's worked for them. |

I say let Toronto sign him and cripple their franchaise for years to come. The only way it makes sense to get a guy like Stamkos is do what TB did ........... get lucky and get him in the draft. TB won't pay him 11 million or they would have already. They are smart enough not to do that. They already got the best years out of him at significantly less then 11 million per ........ they know what it would do to their long term health to resign him. - fastek
He's only 26
I think he's got plenty of great years left
11mil is quite the price tag though
I think it's worth it for one of the best Snipers in the league

Just got first look at @TheHockeyNews Future Watch edition. Sabres' prospects (including NHLers) rank second overall
Even after all the 1st round pick and prospect trades |

How could we get "4 really good players" for the 10-12mil Stamkos would cost?
I'd say it's more like 2 players - jdfitz77
Probably right.
I do think if they got two more 25-30G guys I would like that more than one 45-50 guy though. |

100% on lose tonight, and every other game for the rest of the season. Because you know what feels better than being the Leafs in a meaningless game? Having added a guy like Matthews to our line up that will insure us kicking the crap out of the Leafs for the next decade. Remember, if we win now, we lose out on guys like Matthews, Laine, and Puljujarvi. We also lose even further later when those guys play for another team and they consistently beat us for years to come. |

One must ask themselves why the team that has him is apparently unwilling to sign him to that same, or even a hometown discount contract? Do they know/notice somethings others don't? |

Not about money right now with him it's about respect and Tampa has shown him NONE. This whole thing has no business dragging out this long, why screw your best player around, he should be taken care of right away. |

They obviously don't feel he is worth it, else they would have shown the respect with a more lucrative contract right? Why else would you piss of you best player, what purpose does it serve? |

Yzerman, dumped Lecavalier when he saw he didn't have it anymore. He moved St. Louis for a nice return when his writing was on the wall. He sold Conacher for a nice return, knowing he was a flash in the pan and pretty much a joke. He picked up Filppula which turned out to be a wise investment. He just won the battle with Drouin.
So, at this point if Yzerman is telling Stamkos we're willing to let you walk, I wouldn't doubt if he knows something.

Agree, very bizarre. Unless his demands are he wants the max 20% they should just pay him. |

I've glimpsed hell, and it's Ray Ferraro and Pierre McGuire being the only way you can watch hockey, and no, there's no mute button. |

Who though?
Let's say we sign Boedker & Ladd
Boedker is pretty one dimensional and Ladd is at the age where he'll start breaking down at some point during the contract he's about to get.
If we don't get Stamkos, idk if there's any UFAs I'd like to get |
