The T.J. Hensick and Blair Jones were swapped between Charlotte and Utica. The Canucks maintain Jones' rights and Hensick remains property of the Hurricanes.
Dane Fox, however, was traded outright by the Canucks to the Hurricanes for Future Considerations. The Hurricanes get his rights.
Okay. - BINGO!
So I guess we will find out how this turns out once the "Future Considerations" have been determined.
neem55 - regarding if we land a top 3 pick, who do we choose.
I was thinking about this last week. I think if we happen to get a top 3 pick, we choose the BPA between Matthews, Laine, and Pulj. If we get a pick between 4-10, we get the best D-man available. That is personally what I would want to have happen given the players that are top 10 in the draft.
Do you think there's really any chance of him being in the NHL? - BINGO!
Utica has been pretty good the last 2 years. He has been real solid for the ECHL Kalamazoo Wings. His point production in his overage year was stupid (mind you he was playing with McJesus). He looked real solid in the prospects tourny at the beginning of the year too. I don't think he can crack a NHL roster now, but I think there is a chance that he can one day MAYBE crack a NHL roster or get the odd call up.

Good thinking. None of this BPA crap when picking in the top 15. If we are out of the top 3-5 we need a Dman...badly. Fill your needs.
I thought I heard somewhere that the Fox trade was a rental situation and the Canucks were retaining his rights? - LordHumungous
That was the initial reports that were circulating. A few Canuck/Utica/Hurricanes sources tweeted out that it was not the truth. I believe the rights of Blair Jones and the CAR player coming over still have their rights retained by their clubs. Fox to CAR for a future consideration was really the only transfer, the other is mainly a loan.

Yep.
Jones and Hensick swapped, but teams retain their rights.
