Don't get me wrong, I'm not insinuating or suggesting that mgmt needs to replace WD with Green.
I just really hope they find a way to keep him in the organization a little longer. - belcherbd
No I didnt think you were, but its something I have thought of and I am trying to not get sucked into it thinking it will be an amazing idea. WD did a good job last season, the team was exciting to watch and they won games. Its been easy to forget that, especially when its assumed everywhere that Green will leave for nothing after the season ends |

He doesnt want one guy below 6 feet in this organization. Even dorsett is listed as 6 foot on some canucks stats, when that is obviously not the case, first shinkaruk now fox. Benning doesnt seem to want to take any risk with a small offensive guy (which I dont get, there are plenty of small guys that put up great numbers like Kane/gaudreau/johnson) - Crazybagoham
may be exaggerating just a tad here.
This is the same guy that traded for Vey and Sven.
It seems like a simple calculation that (similar to Shink), JB does not see a future in the current makeup of our team for a player like Fox...and he was moved, which also opens up a contract spot.

Outside of Shink i could care less about the rest.
Sven is relatively small, the really interesting scenario is going to be if Subban ever gets a real shot under Benning (another small Gillis pick). |

Dane Fox is not a loss whatsoever. He excelled as an overager in junior and hasnt been able to stick the AHL for a couple seasons now, this is nothing more than getting something to help Utica now and has barely an impact on the Canucks. If the future considerations turn out to be a draft pick as some suggest, then start praising JB for getting something for a guy they got for free that was never going to surface to the show |

Fox is a horrible skater...he wasn't a strong prospect. Better to let the kid have a chance on a weaker AHL team and open up a roster spot for some clollege kids |

I'm in no rush to see Subban brought up to the bigs personally.
Let him continue to develop in the AHL.
Either he will be brought up when the time is right, or used as a trade chip.
I'm good either way. |

I can't believe even 1 single person is female doging about losing Dane Fox. The guy was a free agent signing, that couldn't crack the AHL.
For (frank)s sakes, pick your battles. |

the report I saw from sportsnet was it was for futures....no player coming back at this time.
Earlier here it was posted that it is more of a LOAN to the other AHL team and that we still have his rights. Prob by the end of the day we should have full story - SMBDragon

Hysteria, honestly some of you need to expand your vocabulary, sometimes a discussion is just that.....
You are correct that AHL success doesn't guarantee NHL success but almost all coaches spend time in the AHL before making the jump to NHL and almost all of them have success at that level before making the jump.
Discounting what Green has done because some coaches haven't made the transition is pretty close-minded.
I have no idea whether Green will have success at the NHL level but he has now twice taken pretty mediocre rosters and gotten good results out of them while having young players contribute in significant ways. - belcherbd
Right....this is why I never buy the excuse of rosters for failures. Good coaches make more of the rosters they have. There is nothing wrong with the forwards or goalies we have here, we have talent. Sure maybe not a getzlaf or OV but still. Our coaching staff just sucks, not the roster.
Good coaches excel with less. Ted Nolan was a good example of excelling with less. Babcock made his name w anaheim with a crap roster and went to game 7 SCF. Roger Neilson...Pat Quinn...both went to cup finals w questionable rosters.
Makes me wonder if they are searching for greens AHL replacement before they promote him to nhl and get rid of the current bunch of clowns. |

On a more serious note, WTF are future considerations anyways?
I wonder how that works out on deadline day?
After careful consideration, I don't accept your trade proposal. |

I believe it usually consists of a few options with an out clause (or default settlement) if something cant be reached. This likely means JB has interest in some prospect from CAR and wants to scout and find a spot for them (EDIT: or the player to be returned has been identified and they are letting him finish the season in CAR organization), otherwise it'll end up being a draft pick. |

I'm assuming a 7th rounder would be in order

I cant imagine it would be more than that. At least JB can throw it in to sweeten an already bad deal going forward... |
