You really have not yet demonstrated how the term is flawed. But please dont go on, the original point was valid.
guns dont require much skill, swords do. Lets stick with that....remember this is about coaching vs roster.

I'm mildly surprised most of you didn't jump off the burrard street bridge after tdl... there's still time until they put up that $35M barrier.

not to fuel the tryamkin fire but...

Its a metaphor:

The person is dangerous, not the weapon.

It is flawed, I don't know how to tell you any more plainly than I have. I also don't really see how it is at all reflective of coaching, as the coach can't be on the ice.

This is a non-playoff roster, I really don't think any metaphor is necessary for us all to know that. You can argue that it is, but this is one of the worst defense corps/secondary scoring teams in the league, not much the coaching can do about that. Nolan didn't take Buffalo to the SCF, Hasek did. Coaches can do the best they can with the personnel they have, sure. Better systems could help this team score more/defend better, sure. Good enough to make the playoffs... bit of a stretch. Good enough to win

- neem55

then you clearly do not understand how it works. And probably cant.... if you cant see how coaches win games when not on ice the ice then you dont have a clue about coaching.
Some people simply cannot make the connection, which is probably more than half of all fans....which is OK. You enjoy watching games and appreciate the game the way you do.

But since you dont have a clue about coaching you cannot make an argument that Id be wrong just because you cannot see what coaches do. Not meant to be insulting or anything...just making my point.

At least he's someone we can look up to, except for Lefty.

It's ridiculous to say if we had a different coach, we would do better or worse given the exact same lineup in the 2015/16 season...because you can't prove it, no matter how sure of yourself, you just can't.

here it is aka google translate.

Contract Nikita Timkina ends April 30, 2016, but the defender turned to the club with a request to release him early, to go to North America. Recall Nikita drafted "Vancouver".
"Motorist" went to meet his pupil, so this season he will continue in Canada. Note that the right to remain in the KHL hockey player for our club.
Nikita wish good luck!

Slow clap.

#2 Messier GP 1756. Total 1887 pts.

#3 Jagr GP 1613. Total 1851 pts. and counting.

we all have abilities and disabilities. Simply like some people cannot do math well while others can. We cant get what we cant get, its just who we are. Doesnt make you better or worse, just different.
That is my point.

But Its your choice if you wish to see me like a Richard, which Im not trying to be. But text form is sometimes misconstrued as well.

Most fans do not understand coaching or what they do, thats obvious. Some people are better at connecting the dots than others. My strength is strategy, its easy for me. But dont understand assessing drafting as well.

How could I not take that arrogant load of poop to be insulting? The fact that you have raised a child is alarming if that is somehow supposed to be objective and/or not insulting. You can have an argument/debate without insulting someones intelligence, now I can see why you've drawn so many "do you even lift, bro?" comments.

A coach can't make a team win. Coach Q doesn't make Patrick Kane creative or have chemistry with Panarin, but he can (and does) coach a system in which such chemistry is possible. I'm not saying he has nothing to do with how well that team plays, he gives them structure, sets of plays and helps lead the team. More importantly, he leads the preparation for games and series which is crucial.

I'm very sorry you don't like me pointing that a sword is a poor analogy for a team, but it is. A hockey team is largely out of your control as a coach, not completely of course, but there are a lot of variables that a coach can do nothing about. Because it's not some inanimate object, it is a group of 23 people. This is why Coach Q failed in other attempts to coach teams, because it has more to do with personnel on the ice than behind the bench.

yeah bud, you're the first one here to call out trolls but then you completely insult this dude with all your shi**y intelligence digs - btw how do you know he doesn't have a clue about coaching? AND to be fair (as an outsider looking in) I see valid points in both your arguments, but don't insult the s&*t out of the guy and then say "not meant to be insulting" thats even more insulting. You can make your point and not be a d*&k....

I see what you mean, couldn't believe what this says...

I actually believe this.
But you do come across as arrogant, particularly when you make a point in a post, someone disagrees with it and you suggest that they go back and read it again...insinuating that they have comprehension problems, without acknowledging that you may have not relayed it effectively, or that you could be wrong.

I'm just saying is all i'm saying.

Sorry you took it that way. It was never my intention to call it an intelligence issue, thats what has been taken from it by some I see. Please dont take it negatively.

We usually see things pretty eye to eye, but not here. Thats ok.
I highlighted here how much you limit coaching. On ice players are extension of the coach..... and I previously gave examples of teams that won in spite of their roster. And yes hasek factored into success AS WELL as the coach....not INSTEAD of the coach. Parallel things there.

since we dont share the same view of the game lets just talk about something else.
