That's what I'm saying. The point of fighting in hockey is to pound someone in who deserves it. Whether it's someone who's been taking liberties or someone you've been having an exceptionally chippy game with. If you're pissed at someone you drop the gloves. This dumb poop jackassery of amicably agreeing to drop the gloves at the face of circle is a kin to WWE. It's phony and void of emotions. There's no point to it - Victoro311
Plenty of fights in hockey in the 80s and 90s were staged too. Not justifying it one way or the other but it happened lots. What I hate most are the expectations of fighting after a clean hit. That shít is relatively recent. |

One thing I haven't seen much of... Pouliot sitting in favor of Schultz? Thoughts? |

I don't know much. But I've forgotten more than you'll ever know about hockey. You're the biggest dumbass on this board. You can go back to worshipping your heroine Porter now. Or did Sesito replace him in your heart? - jfkst1
Off topic... Grinder how close are you to Indian Lake? My grandfather bought an A-frame there in the 70s for 3k
Edit: meant to quote grinder obviously. |

Madden talked about this today. Said he has a source that tells him the Pens are afraid of a Schultz/Pouliot pairing.
I thought Schultz looked pretty good as the game went along. Should be interesting to see what they do tomorrow. |

I was surprised because Pouliot has done a decent job since being recalled. I figured they would sit Cole but he's done better in his return since being scratched.
It will be interesting to see how Sullivan handles his defensemen. While it was only one game Schultz did make some things happen. |

It shouldn't matter IMO. Pouliot is a LD and Schultz is a RD. Play the best players regardless of their style. |

Oh I agree. That's why I was always behind Orpik. If you're hitting clean you shouldn't have to justify. But that doesn't change the fact that fights, when they do happen, should be genuine with genuine intent. It should never be two goons trying to justify their jobs |

Fighting, even staged fighting, doesn't bother me at all. It's the cheap shots and inconsistent officiating that I hate. |

The problem with this whole Sestito thing is that it is gearing up the game to be a physical one. Both teams are going to prepare to murder each other and thats not the type of game we want to play against the BJs.
BJs get an injury it doesn't affect them one bit, an @sshat on their team takes things too far and runs Sid/Geno/Letang and it could end our season.
Stupid. - stackthepads

Gotta see where Shultz's defensive liability is really at before matching him up with Pouliot... see him in our system a bit, then if he can hold his own, you try and him Pouliot in the last few games of the season to see if its worth the risk going into the playoffs. |

Also good to light a fire under Pouliot's ass, not that he has played bad, but a little competition is good to help elevate his game.
Honestly I dont see much of a difference between Pouliot and Shultz. Pouliot is a bit more physical, better at skating the puck out of the zone. Schultz (from the one game) had a good stick combined with a long reach, better positionally than Pouliot.
Getting a little competition going between the two for the 3rd pairing spot will help both players. |

And always the scenario where Shultz just replaces Daley... and we trade him for that elusive 3rd line LW or some picks/assets. Dumo - Shultz and Pouliot - Cole (since Cole has looked good again finally). |

This would be an ideal situation if Schultz proved himself capable. Few want to contemplate it, but in the event of a cap squeeze, the Pens (among other teams) might have to move someone with significant salary. |

Midway thru the second period and Scuderi has played 13 minutes and has an assist...only Doughty has played more minutes in the game (15)...Scuderi is Doughty's security blanket |

I remember growing up hearing about those plug in blankets that would constantly overheat and catch on fire. That's the kind of "security blanket" Scuderi is. |

Agree with you on orpik. You shouldn't have to fight for a clean hard hit.
That being said I don't hate staged fights. It's entertaining. I would rather have am staged fights to add a little entertainment than all the sideshow poop they stuff into NBA games.
Of course I think each of your 12 forwards need to contribute to the team as hockey players. Maybe each teams can have a 13 forward dress who skates 3 minutes a night and gets in a fight for no good reason. |

I don't find fake fights entertaining. I find them abrasive and insulting. I'm not a mindless gorilla. I know when somethings not real. The fact that plugs think he average audience is dumb enough to think that when a fight breaks out before the race off is a real, legit, I want to kill you fight is insulting to our intelligence |

This guy comes up draws a penalty throws some nice checks on a team that is hurting and you still have to be negative!!! You don't need full lines and can double Crosby or Malkin when you want to. Don't see the harm in having a guy who distracts the other teams tough guys!!! |

And every puck that was shot while he was on the ice was at our net. Anyone else in the league is in his position and we get more chances to score and the opponent gets less. |

I'd much rather have Porter in the lineup thankyou but I think Sestito for a little bit is good for the team. Like it or not the other guys on the team like having that around. Crosby, Malkin those guys love fighting. I hope they go one like a 10 game winning streak and the broadcast announcers keep laying it on how having Sestito in the lineup made a big difference. Boy would your kind be pissed. |
