Even if we do pick outside the top 5 I say we keep the pick. We're on the right track to get to the playoffs now and when we're there we're going to need good prospects that can come in and play after taking some time to develop.
Say we get a Nylander or Gauthier. They take their time developing while we roll with ROR, Jack, Sam, Kane, Lehner etc. We do the free agent route and trade some players like Ennis but no huge splashes. When we eventually get into a position where playoffs are a possibility that prospect can be a cheap scoring option.
Unless you're getting a #1 LHD I don't trade the pick. |

Went to the game last night and I will say the Leafs fans there were very nice. Compared to Montreal they talked to me, joked with me, were generally good guys. Of course they cheered in my face each time they scored but that's to be expected. The Leafs fans that come to Buffalo give them a bad name but I was impressed. |

The #Bills deal for G Richie Incognito is 3 years worth roughly $15M, source said. So, $5M per year. Not bad. |

We talking Vanek 2.0 style? - feetontheair22
Yea although i think hoffman will make it seem like he's trying. Normally it's not an issue but this year he's giving up more high danger chances than he's creating which is not ideal for a goal scorer. Part of this is ice time but he still receives a lot of offensive zone starts. I would still make a play for him, but i wouldn't overpay and you'd definitely need to upgrade D and bottom 6. |

If this is the end goal then sure, otherwise it's time to make splash and my guess is that's what they'd look for if they were moving the pick. |

Reinhart looked like Vanek 2.0 with that little around the world move in the shootout. |

It's a tough one. If you "know" you're signing Stamkos you're in more of a win now mode and I definitely see trading that pick for a LHD (though I'm not as high on Fowler as some of you seem to). If you're no in the Stamkos sweepstakes. then the urgency isn't as much. |

Not time to make a splash in my opinion, and that's just me. I look and see that we're in 23rd place whereas last year we were in 30th. We have 160 GF and 181 GA. That's without Lehner for a good majority of the year, with Sam and Jack being rookies, with players who had never played together, and a new coach. Not to mention that your top 2 scorers from last year, Ennis (46) and Moulson (41) have 27 points between them.
I'm good with moving forward with this core and building around it. If you find a top 4 d-man and it doesn't cost that 1st or any of the core then sure make the team better. Sign a couple of free agents, make your best push for Stamkos, but if this is basically my 2016-17 team I'll take it and we'll see where it goes. |

You're in the sweepstakes, sure. Just like I'm in the sleeping with Jennifer Lawrence sweepstakes. She hasn't said no yet.
I wouldn't make decisions at this time based on that. It's like making our decisions because we expect to win the Draft Lottery. I'd rather make the decisions as if he isn't and then if he does you worry about it then. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. |

It'll go to the same thing we are looking for this year, a top pair D. Difference is next year we won't have a high pick to use as trade bait to land someone who is worthy of playing on the top pair. |

The rumors of you warning us kane shoots high a wide are 100% true.
He's like that kid in gym class that jacks up a 3 pointers every time someone passes it to him no matter where he is lol.
Gotta take the good with the bad |

I tolds ya, its bc he uses too long of a stick to get more jam behind his shot. Has a cannon but he is inaccurate like a mofo.
Watched too many Jet games seeing him miss the net and clear the zone by having it ring around the glass. |

Hey folks, just wrote a story, sort of like I've done when bringing up how the team is doing compared to last season (and then the last time I did it, I compared it to the 11/12 team). Rather than plopping as much as I wrote for it in here, I put it up as a MyHockeyBuzz post. Would appreciate the read and comments:
http://my.hockeybuzz.com/...st_id=17350&user_id=46367
Edit: keep in mind, comments on that part of the site are kind of crappy, they're character limited to something ridiculously small compared to the lack of limit here. |
