That was probably his worst trade...but it definitely made sense. I would be surprised if Forsling ever makes the NHL though so it likely won't cost us - CanuckDon
We got Sutter in the end. |

After watching a few minutes of the game, it should have been clear that the Canucks were in trouble. Yes, they got first goal, but it would have taken Miller standing on his head to win this one.
Game was totally Boys vs Men. Vancouver was physically manhandled. Very easily pushed off the puck and boxed out of the play all game. It was all about strength. The youth looked great and had lots of jump, but for LA, it was stealing candy from the baby. They consistently demonstrated a huge strength advantage, play after play. Eventually the boys just got worn out.
Skill wise, Canucks looked great. A long offseason of building muscle will make a huge difference for next year. |

I noticed Burrows on the fore check, actually checking the dman.
There was a play where I noticed Etem and Vey pursued the puck on the dump in, both got pinned in the corner, 2 LA players, and they watched as another King retrieved the puck and head the other way. I was expecting a little more push back or trying to get away from being pinned against the boards... but wasn't sure if that should be or is expected once your are pinned? The puck was a few feet away and I was wondering why they weren't trying to get free to get at it. almost like going through the motions. |

Hard to envision a win against the LA kings when Sedin/Hansen/Edler/Tanev/Sutter are all missing and the Kings are rolling. I predicted a 5-1 Kings win days ago and frankly I am happy. Miller has been really awful as of late, regardless of who is playing. That Vinny goal was really gross. |

I'd give it a season before you pass judgement...looking good from 20 games in terms of points, F/O's and fancy stats but you never know until after a full season. |

Would you like to trade for Bonnino?
Sutter has more goals and he has only played 20 games |

Absolutely right about Tree and Forsling.
Lets try not to bring up Forsling please
I have faith in Benning's ability to analyze talent. He has proven me wrong in any trade/acquisition that I have doubted. - Codes1087
I think Benning said he will look hard at D drafting out of the top 16 this year but go BPA in the top 16
Depending on the depth of the draft of course but really outside of this years top 5...we need D. |

This is a tough time to be a Canucks fan. You want them to be competitive yet we are hoping for a top draft pick. I would love to see more games like the Islanders game where they play hard, we see good things from the kids yet they fall short. I like what Virtanen is doing he's taking steps towards being the true power forward they need. It may be the old school hockey guy in me but I want to see him jump someone and beat the hell out of them. He play physical and does a lot of the things that good power forwards do but I think chucking the knuckles a couple more times would put the league on notice. He doesn't shy away from the scrums at all and doesn't pick and choose who he hits, so I think a nice tilt would go a long way towards people looking over their shoulder when he's on the ice. All that said as tough as some of these games are to watch there is positive development happening. McCann seems to just need an off-season to workout and gain weight to make more impact next season. He's still throwing his weight around and getting in on the fore check. I have to remind myself that was one of the top 5 teams in the league too, they did what they were expected to. - Nucknab23
I see it just the opposite. I think it is an exciting time to be a Canuck fan. For the last four years I had to endure the same boring predictable hockey . Now with the new faces and roster , it is great.
We can see our goaltending becoming youthful and promising . The D will have at least three new faces. Prospect pool is filling up and we are getting some good talent
I think we may be in for two years of finishing in the bottom but good things are coming

Miller has looked god-awful since coming back from injury. Is he really that bad or does he just not care to be here anymore?
He plays decent for two periods then boom...back of the net. Been like that for months... |

Well said. Watching this core from 2012 on has been the tough part.

I noticed this last season and this season he has regressed further. BUt also that the 1st 1/3 this season he was great. Obviously he cant play the bulk of games anymore.
He was leaky on 3 of the goals on 1,3 and 4. The 2nd was a difficult shot for anyone.
He should be a backup only from here on. We should have better games from him that way.
Why is the staff still playing him as a #1? |

I have been a Canuck fan for a long time, and I don't remember ever being this excited about the entire franchise from top to bottom. Never once have I really payed much attention to the farm, but I find myself keeping up to date with Utica as much as possible and keeping tabs on how the prospects are doing, same in NCAA. The Canucks always played a slow, yet smart game under AV the last few years with the average age being much higher, they had to play that way to win. This new look team that has Incorporated youth into the lineup is totally refreshing, regardless of the growing pains that we all expected. |

Benning's philosphy has always included having a "Veteran" goalie. |

He's got whatever Luongo had for a stretch towards the end in Van, make the ridiculous saves but let in the softy. Miller has kept the team in so many games, its not even funny |

He has made some beauty saves and he has let in some horrible shots. I think with a youthful team, its hard to look "good" when you are introducing a bunch of rookies into the NHL and into a newer NHL club system. Having said that, Markstrom has looked a hell of a lot better in the exact same situation as Miller... Both working with the same roster in front of them. |
