everyone liked the fact that we upgraded Bonino, its the 6mAAV for 4 years he got after that was concerning - Crazybagoham
It was also the cap friendly contract Bonino was on for what we all thought was a reliable 3C or potential 2C. |

That is the nightmare scenario....Nylander is the only guy in the top ten I'd be diss appointed about drafting - Bullfrog77
even a Gauthier if you're picking a forward outside the top 3, go way off the boards for someone who will play with the team after the summer. Agreed whichever team picks Nylander in the top 10 is making a mistake, thought the same when Leafs picked Marner/Nylander |

Outside of a top 3 pick ( Matthews, Fins) please no forwards!
Could you guys imagine if Benning picked up Nylander, it would result in a decade long pissing match with Leaf fans as to who got the better brother - Whiskey-Tango
Calgary's GM and multiple scouts thinks Dubois is just as good both Finnish Players.

I think more people complained about the 4 year extension he got before playing a game and made fun of Benning for calling Bonino a 2C, foundation player who was a proven 20 g scorer, moved him a year later and used the same words to describe his replacement. - belcherbd
Yep.
I remember being against Sutter when he was rumored to be the main piece in return for the potential Kesler trade.
Funny how those two trades correlated. |

Good, hopefully Calgary picks before us in that case. |

In the limited games I've seen the top three d prospects play, sergacheyv stood out the most. He easily could be the best d man in the draft. - Bullfrog77
From what i've seen i agree but idk when Chychrun stays higher rated.
It's why I bring up tradng down if we r not a top 3 pick.
The right deal n do it if we only drop down to 8-10th.
Only sticking point i have is idc for any forwards 2nd round on all that much.
Still no matter what happens our 1st pick will be very good. |

That's a good little nugget, I actually have faith in our top line going into next year if Sutter plays all year. Makes you think a Hansen trade in coming this summer then. - Crazybagoham
I think Hansen will be packaged with Tanev to try to upgrade on D . I think Edler won't waive so it will be Tanev out.
I think Benning will also find a NCAA Dman
I think Benning will keep salary (maybe half ) and trade Miller for a pick and pick up a back up goalie for a year as Demko plays a year in Utica.
I think Benning targets Matt Martin on the UFA market, and maybe Gryba |

absolutely. I am just saying, at the time, I think more people were upset about the cap friendly deal Bonino was on compared to the extension Sutter signed before he played a game with us. |

I see it just the opposite. I think it is an exciting time to be a Canuck fan. For the last four years I had to endure the same boring predictable hockey . Now with the new faces and roster , it is great.
We can see our goaltending becoming youthful and promising . The D will have at least three new faces. Prospect pool is filling up and we are getting some good talent
I think we may be in for two years of finishing in the bottom but good things are coming - VANTEL
I got to agree. |

Logan Brown is a guy to keep an eye on too. He moves well for a big man and uses his size. |

I like a Hansen/Tanev package but too vague on for who.
NCAA ufa D r so so IMO but JB seems to have deep knowledge.
Martin sure but no use for Gryba.
I like to see an OS on RHD Lindholm then Vatanen if no luck. |

Miller is the reason we lost last night (as well as the terrible offensive lines) The defense worked fairly hard without Edler/tanev. I'm okay with trading Tanev if they have no intention of trading Edler, he's definintely an attractive trade option for a lot of teams.
I thought maybe Calgary might trade for a retained miller, but they traded for Backstrom. Maybe Toronto finds out that sparks/bernier suck and trade for him, but I dont see a lot of teams wanting him even at 3m, the guy has no fire. Apparently JB wants Demko for 2 years in Utica, but I dont see him keeping him down there if he shines. I'd rather see an experienced backup for markstrom rather than giving miller these starts.
I like Gryba as well, Martin not as much. I've been advocating for Jason Demers. Dunno how other people think of him though |

If Pedan can stick with the team then there is little need for Gyba. WD did say last year at camp he didn't even notice Pedan, hopefully that has changed. |

He's definitely a top 6 forward, so I disagree on that one. |

I thought backstrom was a UFA and just a salary dump.?
I agree on Miller not having a lot if value (unless he stands on his head next season).
I am ignorant on what gryba or martin bring to the table.
If we are trading tanev n Hansen. I'd approach Edmonton about Rnh. |

Nobody will take Miller n here only as a stop gap. Not much of that tbh.
His 6m is ours for one more year unless outta the blue he retires.
What i cannot get out of my mind is JB has more moves up his sleeve still.
Trades r coming. All in all next year will be pretty sad IMO. Thats to be expected.
Our depth is a sore point n health is the make or break point.

Martin is the top banger in the NHL n a good 4th liner. |
