In theory yes but If Im moving the pick I want a d-man. I think a trade or FA signing for another top 6 forward is possible without using that pick. Im not sure the same is true about a top pair d-man.
I really like Drouin but there's still a lot of risk there. - Sabresfan-365
You would prefer to trade the pick for Lindholm, no? I just get really intrigued with the possibility of Eichel and drouin on the same line.

I'm all for moving the pick of its in the 5-10 range. But I'm not moving it for Drouin. I'm moving for a defenseman like you said. |

This is interesting...wouldn't be surprised if Murray explores it. - Deuce81
Drouin was a #3 overall in a non-descript draft. he's been disappointing for whatever reason. I don't think we trade a #5 or #6 overall in a strong draft for potential bust. |

Why would be trade reinhart for an UFA? Makes no sense to me?? - turbo044
Exclusive negotiation rights . Reinhart is going nowhere . The kid is really starting to turn heads . He may be our Toews in a few years.

If our pick is 5-7 would you move it for him? - mhp
Devils advocate response as u truly agree...are we nuts for using this year's first for anything other than a LHD? One can be gotten for other assets, but wouldn't a 5-7 pick be a great start to the LHD solution (whether we draft or trade it).
I like Drouin and think he could be a future all star so I will simply take him and adapt, but I would have inner turmoil about it. |

And the top 3 defensemen are all LHD and are currently ranked around #5, #6 and #10 overall. Seems like a fit - let's see whom GMTM likes best. Now, if we get lucky enough to get pick #1, 2 or 3 that changes things. |

I don't know if we'd find buyers, but if we pick 5 - 10 I'd explore trading the pick in a package for an established LHD to pair w Risto. |

If that's all it took it would've happened by now no?
Big price tag for him and it's only going to get bigger now that he's back playing with the AHL affiliate. - Sabresfan-365
I would think our 1st really wasnt on the table at the deadline, due to the uncertainty of were would be selecting. After thelottery, I very much could see our 2016 1st in play. |

If it's the right LHD. Someone like Fowler I'm not sure if it's the right dman?? I question why a team with a top pairng LHDman would want to.trade him for a prospect anyway. Maybe salary cap I guess, but who's available?? |

Imo: Lindholm, Vlasic, Shattenkirk (last one being a righty but i guess beggars cant be choosers)
Ducks have an internal cap, probably not actively shopping Lindholm but if it's enough of an overpayment...
I say it every year but barring a long playoff run I assume they'll go through some kind of rebuild. Vlasic has 2 years left and they nave no 1st rounder (and just gave up 2 for roman freaking polak)
Shattenkirk's name has popped up quite often this year, they're tight against the cap so unless they're down to move Schwartz (which we should be in on if that's the case) it sounds like Shattenkirk will be the one who goes. |

Yeah to Lindholm, but can't see them moving him. I was watching shattenkirk yesterday, lamenting he wasn't left handed.he was that good. Though 2 goals and almost a hat trick will do that, I suppose |

I would seriously consider it. You get an NHL ready player in drouin and TB wants to re-load they'll get a nice d prospect (Chychrun, Sergachev, Juolevi). A win-win. A big sorta splash at the draft in Buffalo. - mhp
Is Drouin with all his "potential" baggage worth more than whoever is sitting at 5-7 ? Very debatable .............. |

And this means what exactly? That Murray will be inclined to do something that he wouldn't normally do if the draft was somewhere else? That kind of thinking is what gets guys fired. |

Devils did it in 2013, and the Pens did it the year before too. It might be the GM, it might be ownership or it might be both. You want to make a splash on draft day when you're hosting but the fact is this is the sort of deal they should be exploring no matter where the draft is, it's just an added incentive to get it done during that time slot. |

With Winnipeg Edmonton and Calgary all tied at 51 points. 4 Points back of Buffalo. Flames and Jets two games in hand on Buffalo and Buffalo one game in hand on Edmonton. What are the realistic chances two of them catch us so we fall to fourth last for the draft.? |
