No doubt Buffalo has some great young players and what appears to be a bright future, but with guys like Rielly, Nylander and Marner + to build around and one of the best coach's in the league (if not the best), sorry dude, but Buffalo's rebuild isn't that much ahead of the Leafs'.

Umm dude, The Sabres are like 2 years ahead of you guys in rebuilding and have 2 #2 overall draft picks in their system one being a generational talent. I'm all for team pride but, let's get real. The Maple leafs have a long way to go before they're a relevant team again.

That is what you get when you don't use your assets well. We know that Stamkos is over rated and now he will be overpaid. He is good but not that great to demand that kind of cash. Personally, I hope he stays in Tampa. Would be fun to see him as a Leaf, but I do think it'd be wasting some of his prime years while the Leafs build.

The fact is, Buffalo IS far ahead of the Leafs in their rebuild. Who knows which is going better, but Buffalo started ahead and has more pieces in place than Toronto does. I wouldn't be surprised if Stamkos wanted to go play there.

I have a feeling he's going to end up in Detroit. I'm not sure why I think that, but it just feels like it would work.

Edit: Also, I like Buffalo. Sure it's not the prettiest city in the world, but I've had some great weekends there!

Let me emphatically say there is no part of me that believes Stamkos ends up in NJ, however - I think it does make sense that NJ might be worth a look to him.

1) NJ can afford to pay him without making drastic changes to the roster.
2) He would be the undisputed 1C.
3) They have a great coach who wants offense.
4) They are currently about 2-3 forwards short of being a very competitive playoff team with Schneider in net.
5) It's a comparatively low-pressure market, which is actually a bonus to some players.

All that said - I still think he ends up in TO.
