We really have to stop putting players like Zach Bogosian and Matt Moulson in the same category as a top 10 player.

There are 70+ defenseman as good or better Bogo
There are 100 High school players as good as Moulson
There is what, maybe 5 players as good as Stamkos?

He's really good offensively AND defensively

I agree to an extent, however what Karlsson is doing offensively makes him incredibly valuable.

I'm all for getting stamkos but it'll cost more to get his rights than what seems to be assumed. This is not a free ride. Multiple teams will be in the bidding with Tb to get him. My guess is it would either be Ennis or Girgs and a pick (3rd?). Or maybe our 2017 1st and a prospect. If we're outside top 5 it might cost our 2016 1st. I think it's wise to consider the real cost as a 2nd rd pick isn't going to do it.

For what it's worth, I'd make the deal for his rights for all the above. The only pick I wouldn't deal is #1 overall

The only thing of Moulson I'm comparing to Stamkos is the low production versus the cost...when Stankos drops off but we're still paying him. His production has continued to go down..and it ain't league-wide...that myth has been dispelled.
50, 42, 37 ... To what 35, 32, 28? I'd rather have Moulson's 7 at $5m as bad as that sounds.

I'd love to have him to watch him play here with the core! Need multiple cups...then I can be the old guy reminiscing about the 3 cups in 4 years, while watching him try to pot 20 in year 7, lol!

And assuming he'd only accept a trade to a team he wants to sign with, why would he ok a deal where the Sabres are giving up quality assets?

I think he will still be an elite goal scorer for the next 5+ years. He's taking less shots and is getting less ice time.
