I disagree - I think ullmark backs up Lehner, Kransdorf and Lieuwen fight it out in Rochester. MakRov will go back to Russia. I don't think you sign a guy you're really high on to put him in the ECHL - turbo044
This needs added to the likes of Bagosian.

That has nothing to do with signing Stamkos
U keep saying it'll prevent future moves,
Yet won't be SPECIFIC about the guys you'd want
The reason I'm asking for specifics is bc I'd MUCH rather have...
Stamkos, Larsson & Foligno
than
Versteeg, Boedker & Handzus
For example - jdfitz77
Is he even still alive? I remember playing him on the Flyers in NHL 03. All I remember is he was SLLOOOOWWWW. |

Yes find me a player in the NHL that had multiple 30 goal seasons then was paid and then decided, eh I don't need this anymore I got paid. |

Never thought I'd say this but I actually like Cal O'Reilly as a 4th line center instead of schaller. He's very good on draws and, unlike all of these other Rochester call-ups, actually gets points. In his brief NHL game logs he has a very respectable point per game ratio - turbo044
I'd be ok with that too
Good points made about him |

I've spent quite a bit of time looking at the whole situation and decided a fair comp for Stamkos is Evegeni Malkin. Really really good player but not genuinely elite (for whatever reason). I would be comfortable paying him Malkin money: 9Mil or even 9.5Mil, but not 10, and certainly not $11.

I was just giving examples of "3rd line" guys bc someone was talking about NOT getting Stamkos bc it would limit our bottom 6 spending
Was just trying to point out of go young & cheap,
Then upgrade at the deadline IF necessary
I'm way more worried about Line 1 than I am "bottom 6" |

(frank)ing Oilers... They've played two more games then us too... All other teams have played less so if we get one win out of the next two (very probable) we could be six points ahead of them...
At least the Flames and (knock on wood) Jets will move to two points back with one game in hand. |

You're the one who can apparently see the future...
But sure,
Totally makes sense that a guy who's been an amazing scorer for his career will just get worse & worse
All I'm asking for is reasons u think he'll trend this way...
And you've given NONE - jdfitz77
I'll field this one.
Father time. Statistical analysis of 99% of players not named Jaromir Jagr.
The simple fact is Stamkos will not get better than what he currently is. He will get worse, not Moulson worse, but his stats will slowly but surely decline. He can still easily be a 35-40 goal scorer and put up maybe 70-75 points for another few years which is phenomenal production, but not for the boat anchor $10M+ contract he'd require on a team already loaded with elite talent at center. And spare me the "he doesn't care where he plays". He does, and so do Eichel and ROR. If we picked say Dylan Strome and/or didn't trade for ROR last year then I'd say go for it, balls out. But we got Eichel and ROR. It doesn't make sense to pay your top 3 centers in 2 years $25M+. Elite though they may be. There's not enough ice time to justify those contracts. They're all deserving of 20 minutes minimum. How do you make that work? |

Malkin got that deal a couple years ago though, right?
If he were to sign now, he'd be 10mil + |

Vanek is the epitome of consistency. He's never failed to score at least 20 goals in his entire career. He scored 20 in 38 games during the lockout year of 12-13. He's got 608 points in 743 games.
Try again. |

Father Time?
He's 26, not 40 something like Jagr
That's a brutal comparison
I'm not gonna waste my time listing stats for all the really good NHLers from 30-33 years old
They still stay VERY productive
And your ASSUMPTION that all these guys will be upset or whatever IF they don't play center is just an assumption
It's entirely possible that Stamkos would be ok playing center if it's with Eichel as opposed to Filppula
And IF not...
Why can't Jack play the wing?
Reinhart is doing it
It's good enough for ovechkin...
Zetterberg often plays wing when they put him with Datsyul
MacKinnon plays a lot of wing
I can go on & on
So as for "how it would work?"
I'd say that's something that Murray & Bylsma and ROR, Jack & Stamkos would all talk about & figure out

Heck, I'd be thrilled at top5
I think 2-5 are all very close |
