He's playing with Palat (27 points in 49 games) and Kucherov (55 Points in 67 games). I'd say Jack is better than both of them next year. As for a prediction of his total points next year, I'd say if he gets a great winger to play with, along with reinhart, he could be a point a game player - turbo044
Kucherov is a very good player, sneaky good
Eichel has more talent, of course but Kucherov is no scrub
Palat is just blah I'd put Johnson on that stamkos line and drop palat
but the bolts like to roll 3 lines |

But Homie, why bother trading down from say #5 to #9?? Just take the player you like best at #5. You probably won't get a hell of a lot for the trade down? Now, if somebody wants to offer me a 2017 1st rounder to do it, I do that - turbo044
I wouldn't trade down unless I was picking 9th-12th
No doubt I make the pick in the top 8, unless a deal is on the table for a D man |

DRAFT TICKETS - btw, has anybody heard anything about when these will become available via lottery, whatever? A few of us are making the trek from CT but haven't heard anything as of yet

Been planning for a year to go up to the draft as well, have even written to the Sabres before and blown off saying info will be out later.
16 hour drive, I want tickets. |

They were easy to get in Miami last year, but the demand will be huge n Buffalo. I'll pay a premium if I have toot missing it |

Screw that, we could all come on to here and boast about the "training" we had received and how we're all much more qualified!!!!

Just another take on the Stamkos thing............
If he hits the open market he's going to be motivated to land in a spot that gives him the best chance to win. There are teams in this league that are a player like him away from being a dominate force. Teams that are really good now but can't quite seem to break through to the top. Teams like Nashville, St. Louis, Dallas, Florida, San Jose, Detroit etc.
Now not all if any of these teams will be able to afford him but those are where I see the best fit for him ......... if he wants to win. The Sabres are not close to that group. We are what we are unfortunately ...............likely a playoff team next year with him but not at the level of the teams I mentioned above for a few more years.
People say .... why wouldn't you want Stamkos ....... it's crazy ! It's not necessarily that I wouldn't want him on the team .......... I just know it's never going to happen so why fret over it and be disappointed in the end. There's quite a few guys here that are going to be calling for Murray's head when he doesn't land Stamkos based on the pipedream ............... not fair to Murray. We're just not there yet ..... |

Yep - a defense mechanism so when he signs elsewhere they can say they didn't want him anyway. What Buffalo has over all those other cities (a lot of which couldn't absorb the cap hit anyway) is It's 90 minutes from his home, without the media scrutiny of his home. Who knows if it means anything to him, but it can't hurt

Good point.
Who have been the top FAs the past few years?
Ones i remember:
Statsny
Brad Richards - yen6d1
I finally put a finger on exactly what's been bothering me.
And let me say it up front, I'm not saying we shouldn't go for stamkos, I'm just saying we should be careful about it.
ONE OF THE TOP FA's in the last few years, an elite guy who averaged 45 goals a season until he was 26, and then averaged 22 goals a season after he signed an unprecedented Free Agent Contract
is Ilya Kovulchuk.
And we all know how that turned out. |

They went to the cup final?
Edit: And then got out of paying all of his salary and got their 1st round pick back for front loading the deal. Sound like they struck and got a home run. Got what they wanted in a good player, went far in the playoffs, then were off the hook. If that could happen to us, it'd be great. |

32 year old that costs almost 8 Million for the next 2 years? If we're doing that I want half the salary taken. Otherwise, no thanks. Especially if I'm giving up assets to get him. |

My feelings . I just can't deal with the ridicule we will receive from every fan base in the league . Especially Toronto . I would rather be quiet and if it happens . Being able to rub their face in it. Mods better get their rest . If we do not land him it will be non stop troll central here.

There's such a small group of teams that could absorb his cap hit. I think it comes down to how buffalo compares to the others in that group in terms of winning soon. Toronto has the space, but is clearly behind us in the rebuild process.
We may not be Cup contenders next year, but we may very well be the closest to it of the limited options out there. That is assuming the price tag is $11 mil.
