Does Catenacci play LW? Would make the 4th line that much better (actual possible scoring threats?)

It seems like that organization has the Darcy Regier disease regarding its forward talent. Apparently NO return is good enough for Hall, Nugent-Hopkins, or Eberle. No matter how much losing they do, they refuse to part with any of them. It would be interesting to see how those guys perform with a change in scenery.

Right. This team as it stands I fee looks this way:

Hall-Mcdavid-Eb No contest, elite top line
existing winger - RNH/Leon- existing winger/trade/prospect
3rd line fill in the blank, easy problem to handle, Edmonton most likely already has these players
4th line: the same as the third

this offseason pick who you want as a 2C RNH or Leon, no point in making one of these players 3C. And the trade of one of these guys should net a top pairing guy to play with Nurse. Also, trade yak for a middle pairing defensemen and the Edmonton defense could look like this:

Nurse- RNH trade, maybe a player like Shattenkirk
Sekera- Yak trade, maybe a player like Pysyk +
3rd pairing- who cares, easy problem to handle

Oh, yeah, I completely forgot about their 2016 top five pick

Foligno has been great lately.

I was shocked too. Definitely makes a Stamkos signing more palatable, as well as "decreases" the cost of O'Reilly.

It's all relative. Look at Crosby's deal now. Back then it was off the charts expensive, same with OV's. Now Kane and Towes make more and 87's and 8's aren't terrible. If the cap goes up ROR's won't seem bad at all.

I don't see him as long term. D-Lo brings physicality and can play defense and Schaller and Bailey can make offense happen. Idk. Maybe he does more than I expect but I see him as, it's March, he can come up from Rochester but after this year he's not a normal call up.

How much of a factor is he on our future? If he pans out it could be a big help, if not it hurts but obviously not the end of the world. Would like to at least see him on a tryout this year with Rochester. If he gets that deal I'd make the trip to watch him play.

IMO Catennacci is being showcased as a offseason throw in.

If Murray was showcasing, wouldn't he have brought up Varone or Akeson to try to strengthen their values? IMO Catennacci is not a big asset, as were Varone/Akeson, but at the same time, unless a team said "Hey I like Cat and I want to see him play in some NHL Games", it doesn't really square with GMTM's recent tactics. Your idea is still certainly plausible though.

Not sure of their roles on Rochester, but I feel like Bailey or Schaller would be up if Rochester wasn't trying to make the playoffs. Is Cat better than Varone or Akeson as far as Rochester's hopes are concerned? Not sure.

If I could get that Foligno day in and day out I would re-sign him right this second. The problem is we have seen this from him before. Play amazing for a month and disappear (or get hurt) for 2 months.

I think at this point Varone and Akeson's ceiling are known throughout the league. Cat is a 3rd rounder who has put in his dues at the AHL level. If Murray can bring him up for his first call up like he did, and if that goes well , than the Cory Conaher effect may happen. That is, Catennacci plays real well for us, like he did, and than some other team takes an interest thinking that he may be a long-shot steal as a throw in, a player that just needing a change of environment but yet at the cusp of being an NHL player.

I don't think I get carried away by hot streaks. Folignos problem IMO was that his best game is a very simplified forecheck and support, it allows the game to come to him and provides greater results than when he chased the game and tries to create. He seems to have realized it as he matures.

I'm not getting into the Girgs/Larsson mess, except to say neither should be given a big number on the next contract.

This is the difference, I think. His best game isn't to "play amazing." When he chased the game and tries to play amazing his results are not as strong as when he plays more of a supporting role and let's the game come to him.
