Could you guys loan us Holland and his crew for a few years? People can say what they want about the wings but I dont know of too many teams that have been as consistant as the wings have been over the years - RatedR80
I would be more than thrilled to let you keep Holland to be honest!
To me it has become more evident, that the people around him I think made him what he is, Jim Nill, Jim Devellano, Scotty Bowman...they really were the brains behind things in my opinion...and would have loved to have kept Jim Nill over Kenny. Although I am very glad to see Jim doing well in Dallas, class act to say the least!
But yeah, with the horrible job he's done since Lidstrom retired, poor signings/re-signings, awful trades (see Legwand & Erik Cole), his being too conservative & passive ways are getting old...VERY quickly. |

(frank)ing older than me. Was originally a wings/Yzerman fan when I was younger cause I had that Don Cherrys rock em sock em tape with Stevies OT clapper on it against ST.Louis. Dad took me to my first Oiler game when I was 4 and changed my mind, Oilers fan ever since - Oilfan19
Due to family loving the Oilers I became an Oilers fan by default...they won their first cup when I was 4 years old so I do remember some of the cup wins...seems like a lifetime ago tho

I dunno, we are on the cusp of missing out, and heck..we just got blanked by the Leafs...if that isn't a bad sign of things to come down the stretch...
With the exception of Devellano, the rest of the crew has been gone for a couple years now, and how I miss having them. Kenny has been good, but I think his time has to come to an end here soon, with hopefully Stevie Y leaving Tampa to come back home!...hey..I can dream....lol - Hockeytown4life
Do you ever see something like that happening?

As far as the Crosby draft goes you are right there were 4 teams that had a better chance then the rest of the teams did. Oddly enough Pitts was in horrible financial shape and thinking above moving or what not if I remember correctly ... Talk about conspiracy theory stuff but this is the reason I think Matthews is going to be in Arizona come the draft lottery.
This entire issues is the fact the Oilers have had 4 1st round picks, like I said at the top of the thread if its any other combination of the top 5 picks no one cares.
Could you imagine if LA (Or some other team that barely missed)some how won the lottery last year, are you telling me that wouldnt be a bigger problem for the league?
Could you imagine a team being as bad as Toronto never getting the 1st overall because of the new Oiler proof lottery system and then their rebuild take 15 years ?
No one ever tanked worse then the Pens did in the Mario draft although Buffalo was a close second last year. - DinoRondelly
That why everyone else will always be rookies when it comes to tanking compared to us. Mario, Crosby, Letang, Fleury, and Malkin.

Which isn't right at all, say the Oilers draft 1st, 3rd, 5th like the Blackhawks did with Kane , Toews and the bust that was Cam Bakers is it still a problem?
Look at the Pens, Fleury was 1st over all, Malkin 2nd over all Crosby first overall don't see anyone complaining about that.
This will be the year the draft is fixed for Matthews to end up in Arizona and save that franchise with their home grown marque player they can sell the fans there.
Yakupov aside Hall, RNH isn't unreasonable to draft back to back. Thank God Mcdavid is in Canada. someone at that GM meeting should explain how Taylor Hall should have turned around that franchise? - DinoRondelly

I just want one top 3 pick. I think it's been like 30 years since we've had one of those. |

Our top scorer has been out for weeks, we traded away our 2nd highest scorer, we are trotting out Dominque Smith-Pelley on our top line, Bobby Farnham, Stephen Gionta and Jordin Tootoo is actually a line and our world class goalie is injured. I don't know how much more we can do. |

This might be a bit premature but flames look like the best team in the nhl currently, we are supposed to be losing but we're severely outplaying top teams. If we didn't have the worst goals against this year, we would be in the playoffs no sweat. Makes me wanna pull out my Richard and stroke it |

You blew a two goal lead to Nashville but yes you won in OT...then lose to the Yotes 4-1 and are leading the blues 5-3......how the (frank) does this make you guys the best in the NHL?

top team might be a stretch...With Ortio in goal and playing better they have beat the Pens, Preds, and Blues in the last week or so
4-1 loss to Yotes but a late goal and an empty netter it really wasn't a blowout
honestly I wish the Flames picked up Talbot in the off season...what could have been
there is one thing the Oilers did right this year |

Having some success is one thing but best in the NHL is a stretch we can agree....hey you guys had a set back this year it happens and remember Talbot played horrible to start the year so that wouldnt have helped you out while you were struggling with your goaltending tandem either....both of our teams arent that great this year its as simple as that really
