He hasn't been in the league long enough. He wouldn't need to be protected. Well, as of now anyway. But ya, horrible trade. Bring back MacT
- Iloveeveryone

Yes he would need protected. He has been in the AHL which counts as a pro league.

Can the Oilers get more than two goals for once? Or more important not let a goal in a minute after we score one. God this team is awful. Will this ever end...... season is done try mc david, Eberle , Leon for a game. Leon on the wing
- time2produce

The way Leon performed in the faceoff circle last game, why in the (frank) would we move him to the wing? The big, strong center we've needed to compete in the west for years is performing great on the dot. Let's turn him into a winger.

Just glanced at the Standings...
What a pathetic team you guys have, sort of like the "Cleveland Browns" of the NHL... Now I know why Connor McDavid looked the way he did when Leafs didnt get the pick but Oilers did.... So sad...feel bad for him.. He will rot there like all the others...

- nyrsucks

We're modelling our franchise after yours with all the high picks. Oh wait, you (frank)tards forget about those years don't you?

I thought it was only time in NHL that counted?

It has been stated that it is 1st or 2nd year pros. So that would include AHL. Assuming it would also include European pro leagues as well.

Try it on pp then. The team can't score simple as that. What do you suggest they do then? Can't get more than two goals a game something needs to change.

Yes as Mclellan boldly stated yesterday "we have to put that little black thing past the red line".....brilliant strategy that

I don't care what they do. This team is brutal. Personell changes are what we need but that won't happen until the offseason

To me it all comes down to our poopty back end. Games where the D contribute offensively and help us pin a team in their own end we win. When we don't? Ugly.

I agree 100% and no one respects our blueline so they can just key in on our forwards its something you see game after game after game.....I think we can all agree that if our blueline doesnt get addressed this offseason then next year will also be a disaster....our right side is the stuff lottery winning dreams are made of

Better defense would help get the puck up the ice and chip in with offense but I think the forwards have to get in the dirty areas, get to rebounds, screen the goalie. Way to many guys that sit to pee on this team. I would be embarrassed. Someone suggested trading nurse a few days ago, sorry but not in a hundred years. That is the toughness we are missing.

I've been a huge fan of Hall, Ebs, Nuge since they got here but I think it is time to move on if the right deal is out there this summer. Doesn't have to be all of them but it just isn't going to work with them going forward. Time to built around mc david and Leon and whatever happens with the pick we get this year.

The 8 skater route has to be for teams with strong defenses. So...Not the Oilers.
- Matt_Henderson

Not necessarily. Teams could use it to leave a few players out there if they are trying to dump some contracts.

Pretty sure Edmonton will be making a ton of moves in the offseason. All signs are pointing to that.

As for the draft, has anyone watched Charles McAvoy or Filip Hronek play? Both are right-handed and from what the scouts are saying, both are gonna be impact players for any team that drafts them. Both are near the 10-11 mark in rankings.

If Edmonton gets another Top 5 pick, could you see Edmonton move down by trading the pick for a good Top 2-4 defender (Dumba, Trouba, or Hamonic come to mind) and a pick near the 10-11 spot? It might mean trading a Top 6 forward, but down the road, it assures us some good stability on both sides of our defence.

the thing with this expansion draft is it punishes teams that draft and develop and dont throw around NMC's like candy. Looking over what the Jets might do and its possible they will have to leave Josh Morrisey and Eric Comrie unprotected. These are two very good prospects that are being developed nicely and will only be 22-23 at the time of expansion draft, cant be happy about that!!

I don't like this idea much at all. If we're making trades, I want capable NHL defenders coming back in return. Not more draft picks. I could care less about us picking in the first round for the forseeable future. Which is also why I'm so in favour of us offer sheeting somebody.

This whole expansion idea is stupid to begin with. The league should be moving some of their many failing franchises before they worry about expanding and diluting the talent pool in the league anymore.
