It's a penalty but I don't think any intent.

If it was a 2 min. boarding Hendricks being cut means automatic 5

Thxs. Got to admit this team can piss a guy off and with booze it is easy to be negative. Great game. I think if this team was health we would all be pleasantly surprised where we would be right now. All the crap this year there is also some real bright spots.

I don't think I'd be too surprised. I was hoping/expecting this team to be fighting for a wildcard spot and that's probably as well as they would be doing if fully healthy. There are still way too many issues with this team to be a playoff contender. A lot of work still to do. The pieces are there to make the moves, but are the right players available for a fair price? Will the team pull the trigger on an unpopular move?
We'll see.

Really don't like what Fayne brings to this team at all. Very poor decision making with the puck, not physical, not a great skater. I really hope we buy him out. That right side is such a mess, definitely need 2 new guys for the top 4

We can only hope some deals get done in the offseason to address the right side....Nurse should spend next year in the AHL as unpopular of an opinion as that might be

He should've been in the AHL all year but injuries and no depth forced him to be on the big club

I think he could still be effective and develop if he played on the third pairing with a solid partner. But with Davidson playing so well this year it's a tough call. There really is only room for one of them.

I'm hoping fear of higher power will

Yaks and nuge look effective on the pp together

- HB77

Well clearly it worked. Just make sure to keep it up the rest of the way, and see if it was a one off, or the real deal.

Blues thread whining about the refs...

There should have been a bunch more made against their scumbag team. Refs were awful and Powerplays should have been 10-2 or so in the Oilers favor. The calls on Drai and Maroon were extremely weak. And they got away with a bunch more.

Really thought they'd finish outside a top 5 pick; and even a top 8. I always said I thought the Oilers would have a strong finish.

The refs have been ass all year- I missed last nights game but gathered it would be a dirt fest by the Backes led blues- those guys always douche it up and get away with it... So its no surprise they almost came back with the courtesy calls going their way- or what I viewed from the highlights anyway...

Maroon and Kassian are most likely gonna be part of the Oilers plans in the long term.
With that being said, I could easily see them getting 3+ year deals at a cheap price.
Not to mention Chia loves those kinds of players.

It might also mean the end of Eberle and Yakupov's time in Edmonton... along with a shift from speedy wingers to big, physical wingers that can also produce offensively.

Hall-LD-Maroon
Pouliot-McDavid-Kassian

That is such a solid, physical Top 6. I don't want to see Eberle go, but he brings the most value in any trade. With that being said, I think the Oilers should keep RNH. Doing so preserves a lot of center depth.

I wonder why there have been more ref injuries this year..... karma I guess.
I mean, the Oilers have single-handedly taken out like 5 refs/linesmen this year alone.

Maroon is already signed for 2 more seasons, and kassian is an RFA this offseason with arbitration rights, he needs to be qualified at what he was making this year 1.75m, if you are getting him under contract for 3 years, its going to be in the 2m-2.5m range for him easily

If Kassian can keep clean and not have a relapse and brings what he has been bringing then 2-2.5 mil wouldnt be that bad at all

I dont think thats a bad contract for him too, but Hes in sort of a good spot right now, showed he can be effective and still play, has a decent qualifying offer to accept on a 1 year deal, but if Oilers dont qualifiy him, he will be a UFA and could get a simliar contract on the open market on another 1-2 year deal.

I just dont see him signing less than his qualifier, guys like him who could be out of the league in a couple years dont have the luxury of passing up 500k on contracts

Yup and Backes is one of the biggest pieces of poop in the league. Thought this for a long time, not just because of last nights hit.
