We could still sign anyone who will be up after this year to NMC deals right now then
I think they'd just be setting themselves up to have teams circumvent the spirit of only protecting a certain # of players
It could get messy - jdfitz77
That's what I'm thinking. I'd sign all my players during the playoffs. That way the only ones they could take are the free agents or the ones who didn't have contracts coming up but I'd protect most of them with my 10+1

What? What part about what I said isn't true? That you're saying things and when asked for a source you said you had none?
That I said that I don't agree with what you're saying? Or that I'll say you were right, because trust me, I will.
Again, you're making an inference based on what you've seen. I'm doing the same. Neither of us is right. Neither of us is wrong. We're superimposed as right and wrong at the same time until the point where it is officially stated at which case one of us will have made the wrong guess. But that's it. - Zschalberg
I said they haven't made a decision yet and there is no proof that they are leaning towards making NMC players count against the ten skaters in the initial exempt list. That's been stated by numerous articles. I haven't seen one article saying that players with NMC are likely to have to count against the 10 only that they would have to be exempt as well. |

If the NHL expands, the new team or teams will have more talent to choose from than expansion teams of the past.
“We have made that a point to (general managers that) they are going to be forced to expose better players (in an expansion draft)," deputy commissioner Bill Daly said Wednesday at the general manager meetings.
The plan is not yet finalized and there are a couple of different options, but teams are expecting they will only be able to protect seven forwards, three defensemen and a goalie. First- and second-year pros are exempt. Drafted but unsigned prospects from the two previous drafts are also exempt. What that means is that European or college players drafted three years before and unsigned would be eligible for the expansion draft.
Will it be enough to give an expansion team hope of being competitive sooner than teams in the past? It's difficult to project without knowing how much maneuvering teams will be able to do with salary cap. When the last NHL expansion happened in 2000, there was no salary cap.
Kevin Allen, only some of the article. |

Then we're in agreement. The rest is all guessing. |

All I've learned is that no one knows exactly how it works... and it only took us 3 days for some of us to figure that out |

My buddy owned it when it was Westbys and i went all the time, couldnt believe he closed it but owning Average Joes and Shenanigans as well i guess it got to be alot. This new place looks pretty good. Did some upgrades on the inside and has a TON of TVs. Might be a nice spot for the Sabres games depending on specials. And you could pretty much stumble home. Albeit a pretty far stumble. lol |

I said that's what the Gms wanted and as far as we know that would be the case. There has been nothing saying they must be included in the ten. Only that they must be exempt just as 1st and 2nd year players must be. If we sign Fasching to his ELC and he plays a full season next year he wouldn't count in the 7 exempt forwards he'd be in his own category. Makes sense that it would be the same for NMC |

Ottawa has had 2 days off and beat Minnesota their last game. With Lehner out I say 4 Sens 1 Sabres. Larsson gets the goal.
Sabres also play Toronto tomorrow on the road. Back to back against division teams with #1 goalie out, this could be a good weekend. |

Don't get your hopes up... I say 2/4 possibly 3/4 points. Sabres always play better for Johnson oddly enough.. |

Oh don't worry, nothing ever gets up.
Edmonton could end the night 1 point behind us if we lose and they win, btw. |
