Ruh gets another shot...let him be the thing that makes the statement about his current talent level. If he is to be a true NHL defender 5-6 or a 7th d...he has to be able to do it without a stud partner. He played with Pysyk a bit in the minors so they should have some chemistry. He is trying to make a statement for next year...if he was playing along side Rasmus no statement could ever be made. Let Ruh get his chance...

My buddy owned it when it was Westbys and i went all the time, couldnt believe he closed it but owning Average Joes and Shenanigans as well i guess it got to be alot. This new place looks pretty good. Did some upgrades on the inside and has a TON of TVs. Might be a nice spot for the Sabres games depending on specials. And you could pretty much stumble home. Albeit a pretty far stumble. lol

Colaiacavo is weber 2.0 and Pysyk still managed to carry him (yes i really did just say that) I doubt Ruhwedel could be any worse. Also it's not like they'll be out against ottawa's top line.

My point was if Pysyk could carry Colaiacovo (who i called weber 2.0 in reference to his play last year) to the point where that third pair eventually became respectable then I can't imagine Ruhwedel being there in place of him could make things worse (though i haven't seen him play in roch).

That makes more sense, I just don't believe that's true. I wish he'd get a chance in the top 4 just so the debate could be put to rest. In his career he's done very well in that 3rd pair role (especially when you remove colo from the equation) but they should give him that top 4 chance to see if he has what it takes to be effective there as well, otherwise time to sell.

On just pure gold old fashioned eye test, he gives up a lot of dangerous chances and the "great first pass" thing is this franchise's version of the emperor w no clothes.

His first passes are occasionally disastrous, more frequently meh. Somehow he got labeled as having that skill, but it isn't a fair assessment of what happens on the ice. (Any more than his other false label "smooth skater." He may be smooth, but more important in my mind is "slow" and "powerless".)

Other than the GWG that Bogo scored on Wednesday both he and Pysyk looked very solid from section 223. Wish I could say the same about Colo...IMO I'd rather Weber was still here over him.
