We should have gotten something for Johnson. I'd like him back next year, but I think after his play this year someone else will pay him more even to be a back up. I think he will be a lost cause UFA that we could have gotten at least a 5th for, but oh well

Maybe the return was not enough to take on the risk that he would not resign back with Buffalo. Sure, there still is no guarantee that he will, but maybe showing him that they want him around will mean something to him.

I am all for him being the backup again next year, and as someone has pointed out (Homie, I think), there might be some thought in including one of the other goalie prospects in some type of trade.

I think this fa base has grown so accustomed to turnover in the roster that they've come to assume turnover is always for the better. Our team has been so bad for so long that the prospects and change have been all to look forward to.

But that's not how it ought to work. We should work to keep Gus who are good at their jobs, as Johnny is as a backup, rather than trading them in for unknowns.
