And if that's the case, why would we want the guy who is the worst of that bunch? - Sabresfan-365
Because he'd still be our 2nd best defender by a mile.... |

But being the 2nd best defender amongst a really bad d-core doesn't really mean much. We need someone who is just a flat out top pairing guy. |

I think he gets canned if they don't make it to the finals

People who bash Drouin forget he did the same thing with Connolly. He was buried forever |

Then draft one at 5-7. You're not getting Lindholm. I just don't see it. Maybe we can get Shattnkirk. But I feel like Edmonton (Hall, Eberle or Nuge) have the inside track on that |

Wasn't Yzerman at one point in his career carrying the same labels drouin is today? |

Until he's dealt or signs an extension I will believe there is a chance. |

Seems to be climbing according to scouts, some have him as high as #5 now. I don't think Chychrun will be there at #8, so joulevi seems to be the bet. He's also a Finn so I think it will probably work well with Risto. He may need sheltered minutes on the bottom pairing next year, but I'm sure he has top pairing potential. I would rather draft him than pay out the backside for Linholm. - sskkoo1
I think that's a dangerous assumption. Do you think a Bernie Sanders supporter and a Trump supporter could work well together? Sounds like a sit-com. Or like another sit-com someone from the country moving in with someone from the city. I'm obviously not saying they're diametrically opposed like that, but saying just because they're from the same country that they'll play well together is dangerous. The only time I would feel a very tiny bit comfortable with that is with Russians because they're so different in terms of language(alphabet) and culture, but hell, Finland shares a pretty long border with Russia, so whatever maybe it would work. |

I heard from a trusted source, he does not want to be the center of the media in a large market
FWIW - homiedclown
I've also heard that. Mainly it's conjecture, but it didn't come out of Buffalo, or Buffalo fanboys. Even conjecture isn't totally made up, it has to start from something. But then again that is the definition of conjecture isn't it? |

I will say this for him. He's got probably the hardest job in the league. Granted he's not exactly shining, but I think he handled Drouin about a deftly as anyone could have. You just can't have a 2nd year player with a whole, whopping 6 goals and 40 points dictating to you. As "Arrested Development" and the Milford school said "Children should neither be seen, nor heard."
Edit: Hatty. |

You know who I'd love the Sabres to go after? Jaden Schwarz. RFA from St. Louis missed almost 50 games with a broken ankle but has 21 points in 24 games. And 17 points in 17 games since his return on 2/12. He had 63 points in 75 games last year. Granted, he plays on a good Blues team, but still. I would love to have him on the team. He's only 23(turns 24 on 6/25) He's an actual winger. He's a left winger, less important to us than a true right winger. He's got all the makings of a superstar player on a Blues team that may not be able to afford him if they want to keep their guys. I'd go Gus and a 1st this year if it's lower than 7th, or next year no matter what. Maybe throw in one of our 47 3rds we have. Boom, done. |

If you want an RFA, why not Offersheet him?
Assuming additional offseason moves that position us well for a playoff run, thereby dropping the value of any 1st round draft slot in the future...the cost to the Sabres could be the most attractive.
Assuming that then, now you can package Gus, Ennis, and assets to acquire another, perhaps final piece to the puzzle.
So, sign Stamkos, Offersheet Schwartz, draft Chychurn or Joeveli (sp on both) .... trade Ennis and Gus (+ as necessary) to go land a experienced stay at home LhD to anchor for 2 years while you D pipeline develops.
Done...
Now, ISIS.... |

I though Obama/Romney was the most depressing pair of candidates in history back in 2012. The American political system always seems to outdo itself.
