We have a real opportunity here with Lehner being out, maybe for the rest of the season. Lieuwen getting starts could plummet us fast. Not trying to take a shot at the kid, but he's nowhere near an NHL caliber goalie. We also get to call it an evaluation to see if we want to resign him. Nobody can blame us for losing 7 of the last 9 games given our net tandem is Johnson and Lieuwen and our star defensemen is just 21 years old.

Yep, big night on the tank watch. With nine games left I couldn't care less about winning, they do all the winning they want come October. But, for now a top three pick at forward, or even Chychrun or Julevi would help our team immensely. Winning at the end of a lost season only leads to more mediocrity.

So I take it if you are in college (Fasching, McCabe) and not the CHL, it burns a year?

Correct, as soon as you sign an NHL contract you can't go back to college. You're ineligible under NCAA rules(getting compensated).

I thought it looked good enough especially for a guy his size but baker would know better. His playing style makes him real fun to watch, I hope he carries it over to the pro game.

Yeah, but you saw him against college kids. Remember how fast Reggie Bush was in college? If not, YouTube it. It was insane. And when he hit the NFL the gap just wasn't there; guys were catching him from behind all over the place, and he couldn't do his side to side bullpoop either. Going from amateur to professional is a massive jump. Hockey's a little different in that you don't necessarily need blazing speed to be effective. Look at Reinhart. He just kind of floats around, but is almost always in a position where he can make a difference.

That's what i was getting at with fasching (poor wording). I think his skating is good enough especially for the way he plays. Of course there will be an adjustment period but unlike Reinhart, Fasching is already built like a pro.
