Totally. It's amazing that none of those idiots that started the fire Lowe or MacT campaigns, haven't gotten this little movement going yet.

Why is it more important to win a game when a team plays its backup or 1B, than it is to win a game playing the regular tender? Shouldn't they need to win games regardless of who is in net?
- leonkennedy

Ya well no poop, but seeing as how we're the laughing stock of the league that everyone feels comfortable enough against to dress their backup against, maybe we should take some baby steps to get out of the basement. Playoffs or not. You sure like stating things that don't really need to be said. Like the John Madden of this thread

nope, just let us have this one, everyone will be happier

I'm with you on this one Fatmarsh. (frank) Dubnyk. If he wanted to make the playoffs so bad, he should have tried stopping the puck in Edmonton, and done it there.

Think of them as 3 scoring lines that run based at similar minute numbers barring one standing out in either a good way or a bad way. Minutes are adjusted by whichever one is playing the best and it makes the matchup game awfully difficult.
- MaximumBone

3 scoring lines that don't score all that much.

Isn't that what you did? By making the assumption that playing a backup tender is somehow a sign that a team doesn't take another team seriously, and thinks that team is a joke? So by your logic the Oilers are thinking the same thing about the Av's tonight, because they are playing Broissoit?

If they actually stick with the plan then at least Nuge will get the chance to play with Hall and Drai before seasons end (at least I think that will be the line if they move Drai to wing for a few games)

No at this point we're already done for so we're auditioning people for next year. Not everybody is gonna make the cut. Personally, I'd like to sign a quality NHL backup and have Brossoit in the minors again next year.

WTF coach? I like having my own line to center. Why you gotta go and change things up now?

Sorry but this is what coach Todd and his boss had planned......better that then playing on the 3rd line with Yak

Actually at this point the Oil haven't even been officially eliminated from the playoffs yet, and the Av's are a team they would need to beat for them to make it. The chances of them making the playoffs are between slim and none, about the same odds as winning the draft lottery as many times as they have.

Also you said they need to win games and make leaps forward in the standings. How are they supposed to do that by auditioning players for next year? They also tried that backup thingy this year and that didn't work out so well.

Ok good point. This solution addresses the #freenuge issue, and yeah there is no way I wanna center a line with that bust as one of my wingers.

Dude I am serious this one time.
Long gone are the days where a team rides a goalie almost all 82 games of the season and the guy backing him up, is a plug. The competition to be a tender in the NHL is light years ahead of what it used to be. The notion that playing a backup tender is a teams way of saying they are playing weak competition, is about as outdated as the notion of assigned gender roles.

Have you not seen the innovative and original ways in which the Oilers players find, to get themselves placed on the IR? There is no such thing as a surplus centerman in Edmonton.
