Yup. 3 months where Neuvirth outplayed Mason is worth more than the 3 plus seasons of very good to outstanding play Mason has provided for the Flyers.
In fact, since January 1st Mason has been the better goalie, at least statistically. Neuvirth has allowed 36 goals on 400 shots for a .910 save %. Mason has allowed 47 goals on 594 shots, which gives him a .920 save % - Jsaquella
But what is their MCS%? Momentum changing save percentage

They're doomed anyhow with Neuvirth out. Steve Mason isn't a number one goalie.
I actually read that as a response to a story about Neuvirth's injury. Are Flyers fans really this (frank)ing stupid?

This season has probably been his worst and at worst he's been solid. For 3 plus seasons, he's been very good to outstanding for the Flyers. Drives me batpoop to hear folks shred him. - Jsaquella
I'm guessing a lot of the folks shredding him, don't know jack poop about hockey. Mason is a #1 goalie. I think his struggles are likely due to a nagging injury that we won't hear about until after the season. |

Nonsense. Neuvirth has more than proven to be the superior goalie to Mason, as was evidenced by his Nittymaki-like hot stretch. - jmatchett383

It's not about Mason.
It's about stolarz. 4 back to backs to finish the year. We need to give Mason a break stolarz needs to go out there and give us 2 games where he plays well enough that we can win.
I agree. Mase has a SV% of about .850 in the second half of back to backs as a Flyer, and we have four of them coming up.
Neuvirth getting hurt right now is a disaster, unless Stolarz is able to have a great start to his career and win some games. |

i think they are some of the worst commercials out there...car commercials in general set the bar pretty low, but like her and flo I just dont get it. They have been on for so long and I really dont get the appeal. That will be some day when you walk into a car dealership and the woman at the front desk knows absolutely everything about the cars available. Like does anyone else even work at the dealership in the commercial? They must've cut out her going back to talk to her manager 40 times throughout the shoot |

I was at the game Saturday, and the "SHOOT" birds were out early and often, especially when the Flyers had a defender standing 4 feet directly in front of them.
However, one the two early 2-on-1's (not the 3-on-1 where Schenn missed), you have to shoot both times. If the defender takes away the pass and is closing, be selfish and take the shot and crash for a rebound. |

The compression of the schedule and the high number of back to backs is a far bigger worry.
Even with a goalie who is 100% healthy, which I suspect Mason is not, the compact timeframe and sheer workload is daunting. |

I think the back to back will depend on how the games go. If he is really busy, we will need Stolarz. There have been a few games recently where the Flyers dominated possession though |

Stolarz (or some other player due to likely career-ending injury to Stolarz) will likely play between 2 and 4 games down the stretch. Maybe more if they fall off. |

for those who missed this last night...
Wheat Kings PBP guy Bruce Luebke wrote an article stating why he thinks Provorov should win the WHL MVP award.
Link: http://bdnmb.ca/bruce-lue.../the-cas...of-the-year/33
He ends it with this.
"I, of course, have the added privilege of watching Provorov play every night and it gives you a real appreciation of just how good a player he is.
If the above doesn’t convince you, perhaps this will. I’ve been broadcasting the Wheat Kings’ for 23 years, saw Wade Redden, Ryan Pulock, Bryan McCabe and other great defenceman pass through the organization and I’ll say this...Provorov is the best defenceman to wear a Wheat Kings’ uniform during my tenure!! If that doesn’t sway voters Provorov’s way, nothing will."

Confirmed. I was there too and it was bad.
I can filter them out, but the guy next to me was getting pissed at the guys behind us who yelled it constantly. |

Was waiting for him on Saturday, but he never showed (at least for the portion of the game that I saw). If there was any game to get pumped up for, it was that one.
Let's hope that this is one of those times where he lifts the team to a string of victories demonstrated by his play. It's these times that a captain is remembered and also one of the reasons why we don't only look at goals scored as a primary reason for being captain when talking about Giroux. We all know what he's capable of and what he brings to this team....time to remind us of that G!

FWIW, your homeboy Laughton was one of the better Flyers'players Saturday. Was in on the forecheck, threw hit body around, and won some 50/50 pucks. No one was really stellar for the Flyers, and some were downright awful, but he was a bright spot. |
