Sure they didn't NEED to...but who is going to turn down guaranteed money. It is like the RJ Umberger of movies...it is going to make a ton of money regardless of its performance and there is no way to stop it - YuenglingJagr
I just don't get why they would fight. I mean, they're both good guys and both want to save the world and bring about peace (the same goes for Iron Man vs. Captain America, although I guess that's about Bucky). Plus, the Dark Night series was so good that I really don't see why they need to make a new Batman on the heels of it.
Also, Superman can fly, has super strength, and can shoot laser beams out of his eyes. Batman knows kung fu and has gadgets. This fight would last like 6 seconds and end with Batman either being throw into outer space, a heap of bloody mush, or vaporized into dust. - jmatchett383
It's because Lex Luther pits them against each other.
Also hoping Deadpool gets a super short cameo appearance in the next Avenger's movie (especially if they throw spiderman in it). Saw it somewhere... but hes just in the background of a scene where they are doing a serious team meeting, microwaving up a chimichanga, then when they ask wtf hes doing there he jumps out a window yelling "spidey catch me". Then after he splats and breaks half his body you hear him shouting "wtf Parker".
i agree that the plot line seems weird. No idea why they'd fight and that no way superman would lose that fight. I also think this is bound to be a huge letdown after those dark knight movies... - orangekrush2010
I have as much interest in seeing this film, as I would in attending a convention of Ranger fans. The Dark Knight films were great, there is no need for a new batman just a few years later. And really, Ben Affleck??

DC is really grasping at straws to compete with Marvel. Suicide Squad I think looks awesome but I haven't seen a single Superman movie (mostly because I think Superman is stupid, he puts on a glasses to hide the fact that he's Superman....), Afflect as Batman I'm expecting to suck, not wasting my $12 on seeing it in theaters, and everything they are trying to do with the Justice League I have no interest in. Marvel, while I've really enjoyed most of the movies they've made so far (First Capt was horrible, IMO) I think it's becoming too much for the casual fan to follow. I get stuck in group texts with a few of my friends who are comic book fanboys and it's insane how many characters and story lines they could create. It's just too much. Can't wait for X-Men though
In hockey news, (frank) the penguins, it's pretty much going to come down to us and Detroit. Amazing how hot they've been without Malkin, Maybe Jake should have taken a few more games off...kidding glad he's back but that effort Saturday, like Buzz's girlfriend....WOOF!

Why didn't Lex Luther get involved in the Dark Night movies? And why didn't Superman help out Batman with the Joker and Bane? Why didn't Batman offer to help out Superman in Man of Steel?
FWIW, your homeboy Laughton was one of the better Flyers'players Saturday. Was in on the forecheck, threw hit body around, and won some 50/50 pucks. No one was really stellar for the Flyers, and some were downright awful, but he was a bright spot. - jmatchett383
Thing is they were bound to have a bad game. It just happened against a team they need to catch and everyone else keeps winning.

Hahahah thanks for that, best thing I've read all day. Needed that laugh on a boring Monday
Wait, Supderman's an Avenger now??? - jmatchett383
Well hes in the Civil War movie already. Didn't you see the newest trailer? So yes, I want random ass cameos.
Hell, I want to see an awesome Stan Lee one involving Thor in an Avengers movie... Hes playing a janitor, and he picks up Thor's hammer to wipe underneath it and clean it, and no one notices at all that someone else could lift the hammer.

Why didn't Gandolf just get the Eagles to fly them over Mt. Doom and drop the ring in? These questions will plague us for eternity.

I see you're a fan of HISHE.
But my point is that, if Superman and Batman coexist in the same universe (hell, the same city), why have they not crossed paths/helped each other out before?

Isn't that allegedly what the plan was? When he fell down, he said "fly you fools" which was "supposed" to be the hint of the plan he didn't tell them?
But I'm not too LOTR savvy... except I one day want to do one of those larp things, and just beat the poop out of unathletic nerdy people with a big ass foam sword.
The Eagles were nobody's pet, not even a Wizard. - Feanor
Technically, they were subject to the will of Manwe, as he set them there to keep an eye on Morgoth. Of course, they wouldn't have had to be if someone hadn't withheld the Silmarils, caused the first kin slaying, and made his sons swear a blood oath.
