goaltending is SOOO not the issue
- Dan Petriw

the goaltending is the best we've had in years...the forwards, coaching staff and management all need a slap upside the head. you'd think watching them that we were where the caps are in the standings and they're mailing in the rest of the regular season to keep fresh for the playoffs.

I hate watching this team this year. they have won more than they've lost but they haven't deserved the record they have based on the effort level.

The scary part is the defense, even though we don't agree with Strait playing, as a whole, is playing the best its played in a very long time. With the goaltending and defense the way it's been playing, if they can only start scoring, I really think they can be dangerous. But that hasn't happened all year, so I'm not sure if it's coming...

Your blog is sounding more and more like Isles Twitter in prose form. Normally I wouldn't stoop to complaining about the officiating, but specific to the Stars game, there were several obvious penalties that the refs ignored. For example, in the first period Hemsky put his stick between and Islander's legs (Okposo maybe?) the Islander went down, and the refs seemed to let that slide because Hemsky dropped his stick and put up his hands like "I didn't mean it." It was text book tripping maybe 15 feet from the ref who was absolutely watching the play. The Islander went down because he was moving his feet. There were a number of similar examples thought that game. So, basically, this isn't the game to complain about the team not generating enough power plays, even if it was an exception to the rule. Besides, I think you're in the minority if you're asserting that the Isles didn't move their feet during the Dallas game.

They maybe "kept pace" but got little to the net that was threatening. Their play in the neutral zone was once again an abortion and the usual suspects were doing the usual bad things. Strait was terrible as usual and somehow plays again over a player in Pulock who has outplayed him at every juncture and could bring a much needed hard shot to the point which was proven again by seeing Thomas (frank)ing Hickey of all players on the pp? You quasi blaming the refs and Capuano attributing the loss to "bad luck" is absurd.

In no way is this a playoff team..love to be proven wrong but their game is embarrassing. easy to play against and they lack any drive or desperation.

it might not be but will it cut it come playoffs?
- SRam19

Who knows? None of us do we have nothing to base it on and besides we cant exactly make a trade for a #1 before the playoffs so what does it matter?

And they have the worst coach in the NHL. Maybe in all of sports?

Have to love Cappy's comments after the Stars game Noel. He must have fell asleep. I would still break up the 4th line and try Cal with JT and Nelson and Casey with Lee and Strome on the 2nd and have Frans center a third line with KO and Martin. You have good grit on the top 3 lines this way.
- ses111

That shoulda been done 3 months ago......I love how Clutterbuck is scoring GWGs and guys on here were calling him a 4th liner. I was being lambasted for suggesting he try the spot with JT, as he's got a helluva shot and isnt afraid to use it.

I think these lines I came up with can work very well. That's it I'm taking over this team.

With all due respect, the isles have 3 goalies who have played well this year. I know in years past, the goaltending was the obvious chirp. But, right now, the goaltending is not the problem...

I have no problem with those line combos. First off, i like putting clutterbuck with Tavares. Also, getting Cizikas on a line with the slumping Strome might help get his act together.

(frank)ing team wants a pat on the back for trying. Makes me (frank)ing sick. These guys are the biggest bunch of pu$$ies in the NHL. "We'll get them next time." Nauseating

Dude dont you see.......it trickles down from the coach. How many times have the isles lost and we all hear coach say "the boys skated hard, they deserved better than that". THEY PHUCKING LOST. How about calling a guy or two out. Its professional sports. Perhaps this is the problem with having so many young guys is that the inexperienced coach is not willing to chirp them for fear of hurting their feelings.

How many playoff series have the Rangers won over the last number of years and Sather still called them out. That says it all.

Tonight will tell me what this team is made of. I am taping it so if they start losing I can fast forward. If they come out flat it could be the beginnign of the end for this whole team. I would expect this team to be picked apart next year even the players

Real teams with real coaches don't praise their teams when they lose. Capuano is so worried about calling out players for fear of chirping them publicly that he'll praise a loss. Listen to Okposo's post game interview. He was spewing all of that Capuano bullsh!t.

How can you not be negative when in reference to this team? We have a moron coach and an absentee GM, a lunatic owner, and players who have clearly tuned out everything. Wtf is there to be positive about? Wtf else are we supposed to talk about how well Barzal and Soronkin are playing? Go ahead while I stay up to date with current events.

I would sacrifice going to the playoffs this year if that meant we got a new coach. It's just painful to watch this team play. At times I feel like I'm watching Oleg Kvasha and Brad Isbister out there again.

But when they win he says there were a lot of passengers. So he praises when they lose but calls them (not by name) out when they win.

Maybe we should bring in Lebron, it seems he has a knack for getting coaches fired.
