Kane - ROR - Reinhart
Tkachuk/Nylander - Eichel - Fasching/Ennis
Foligno - Girgensons - Ennis/Fasching
Or alternate and take Chychurn/Jeoluivi. Win-Win IMO |

For sure. Im curious if the Pegulas have done anything for him prior to this for his family. Or is that against the rules? I mean we did own his rights. So idk. - CoHo_to_B-Lo
Im sure theres rules as well as ways to get around them.
Rich people are good at that.
Though, even if just playing by the rules, im sure 925K will work wonders this year. |

You think he's mike weber bad? At worst sticking him in the lineup is no different than any of the other call ups we've made. - Sabresfan-365
Just my initial thought was rookie on a young team, I hope he like lights it up and gets 10 pts in 9 games, but I expect his defense to be suspect.
Also feeding into the notion of us getting a better draft spot, even though I prefer us winning out and getting the young guys some success to end the year. |

This year you might be able to get both. 2 pts separating 7th and 4th last. Could wind up there by virtue of having already played more games. |

I would imagine that his defense is a strong part of his game. He was a #1 PKer. And he had 3 or 4 shortys this year. |

No senior year he's done with college, why burn a year now. - SABRES 89
So he becomes a free agent after his senior year and we lose him for nothing?

That is what would have happened if we didn't sign him now. |

A lot of college players if aren't signed when their junior year finishes go back to school and become free agents.
He could have signed over this summer but any agent will tell him to get signed now and get closer to being a FA sooner in their NHL careers. |

That and you could look at it as a potential bargaining chip as well. Now he only has two full seasons to get used to the pro game and put up enough points to earn his first big contract. |

I'm really hoping that Fasching turns out to be the fearless net front presence that screens goalies and scores on deflections. We've got a lot of finesse talent now, but we could sure use a gritty, physical talent to mesh with the eichels and reinharts. |

Over/under on how Fasching helps or hurts our draft position?
We lose 2 more games than we would have without him, resulting in 2 spots lower in standings. Just a guess. - LandlordTom
There is no WAY this team could be more offensively inept with this kid in the lineup.
Park his fat ass in front of the net on the power play. I'll bet he pops a few goals. |

No, not pissed at all. My bad if it came off that way 89 for real. Not being pissy at all. Just really dont know why it matters. The way all the "pros" are making it sound is that this was the best option. Plus with his family situation why not help the kid out now? Could help us in the long run if he turns into something special. - CoHo_to_B-Lo
Fasching playing even a few games this year could potentially count as a year played in Pro Hockey
That might mean we'd have to ptotect him in an expansion draft
And thus, another guy we might wanna protect also (Bailey, Girgs, Ennis, etc) would be left available to be scooped up
Nothing has been made official yet, as far as the draft rules would go, but as it reads now, it's just something you should be considering |

Agreed but at the end of the day, I would rather have to protect him then not have him at all at the end of next year |

Again, the biggest problem with waiting until next year is if he completes his senior year he is free to become a UFA, Murray is smart enough to see that paying him around 80K (prorated) for 8 games this year is a better option then losing him to someone else next year. Plus he gets a feel for the pro game and learns what he has to do to succeed in the Pro's
Seems like a no brainer to me. - macman9
No one is saying not to sign him & let him go back for his Senior year (which he could, even though he's graduating)...
The only concern is about him playing this season affecting his expansion draft status
If it is going to, then don't play him in these games
If it's not, then go for it
Problem is...
It hasn't been determined yet, so we just don't know
And playing him is taking a risk that we'd have to protect him |

If we want a better draft pick, Ice Moulson for 20 minutes a game.
I bet the kid will do fine. |

I still don't know what was funnier. The whole scandal story or the Toronto newspaper that got butthurt about how Gawker broke the story. |
