70 points with 8 games left. Had 54 from last season. A 20 point improvement is pretty nice. Do that again next year and you're close to playoffs.

There hasn't been a decision yet on whether or not teams will be allowed to make side deals or not

An expansion team could potentially take Moulson from us & we could agree to throw in draft picks which would be valuable to them...
They could value extra picks more than say taking Pysyk or Foligno from us

Moulson has a modified no trade though. So they'd have to either be on his list of teams he wants to go to or not be on the list of teams he doesn't want to go to.

I for one don't want Yandle, but that's just me. I'd think, though, if it came to that we'd probably keep the defensemen. Best case scenario:
Protect: Risto, Yandle, Lindholm, ROR, Stamkos, (Eichel and Skunk are autoprotected I guess), Bogo if we have to. That's 6 and we can fill that in with whomever. That's only, of course, if we got Lindholm, Yandle, and Stamkos.

I expect him to be gone before the expansions draft. Just my thoughts.

Sabres need to expose 25% of their salary to the expansion draft. That might be the hardest part of getting this thing going, especially if we go for a big free agent or two. Moulson would be an easy 5M but you might want to give a few lower guys big 1-2 year contracts to expose. Give your 3rd or 4th liners 3M each for a year and expose all 3 and you have 9M in exposed money. Just an example.

That puts us at 14.2M if our current cap is at 60M value. I would still be willing to expose Gionta 4.2M, McCormick (if allowed) 1.5M, Ruhewedel .675, or any other resigned Rochester vets

They'll have 5 or 6 defensemen 25 & under they'd wanna protect
They almost have to trade a couple guys

Another reason I could see Fasching going their way for a defenseman is that they wouldn't have to protect him
Then they could protect 4/4 and not lose anyone too valuable

It'll work out, just an extra thing to consider. Elliot Friedman said in that article that it's something that has been under-talked about.

Either that or he's looking at getting bought out. Either way, He might be okay with going. Might rather be bought out or sent down to stay with his family, though.
