I'll just say, logistics aside, I'm happy we got Fasching. The extra year of the RFA and the expansion draft are future Zac's problems. Let that guy deal with it. Present Zac is happy. |

But u can't talk to the kid now & say something like...
Hey, we want u here. But there is this expansion draft coming up & we've gotta consider how we are gonna keep as many core guys around as possible.
It helps us out of you're willing to wait a few weeks to sign.
And in return for u waiting, we'll bump up your bonus a bit.
U really think the kid just says,
Nope, f#ck u guys...
Sign me NOW or I go back to school & become UFA
I just can't see it playing out like that
Wouldn't make sense
Especially if getting $$ is an issue, bc he'd then be waiting a whole other year to get paid - jdfitz77
There is still no guarantee when the expansion draft happens . You really want to risk it. ?? How do you know how this kid is thinking?

Do you honestly see us having a chance at Stamkos?
I really really feel like we will be nothing more than a bargaining chip to get a better contract from someone else like Babcock did to us.
Detroit, Anaheim, Toronto, or TBL - JVince11
I know for a fact they are going for him, the Ducks don't have a chance for him. People can say what they want about Toronto but I don't buy it. |

I think if he leaves Tampa . Montreal is the favorite . Been buds with PK since Pee Wee . Big Canadian endorsement money with perhaps top goalie in the League as well.

to answer JD and Stripes IMO, we should focus on Stamkos alone as of now. We will have plenty of money and other assets to move for another player if Stamkos doesn't come here, there should be no hurry. - SABRES 89
We can't though. We are going to make moves at the draft before free agency.
I wouldn't pay out the ass for Nash, but Murray has said he wants to add a vet winger like Sharp |

Any team that is serious about Stamkos will find the cap space regardless.

Montreal would have to move a lot of contracts for them to be able to make a run at him. Not to mention that the Quebec tax is even worse than NYS by almost double, on top of the normal Canadian tax. |

I agree that we will "go" for him but I asked about us honestly have a chance at it?
I think that if we were go actually get him.. we will have to pay about 11M per year and I don't think that's going to be a good contract down the stretch. Regret it later on. Get handcuffed between ROR, Stamkos, Eichel, Reinhart, and Risto contracts eating up a TON of space. Won't be able to put anything around them. |

That's true... Ruhwedel and Flynn were both UFAs.
McCabe and Kasdorf are the only other college guys that we owned their rights. |

Yes and no. You would have to move out 2 medium to high priced contracts and not take any back.
It would be very difficult to do.
In Montreal's case they would have to move out about $14 million in contracts to be able to afford Stamkos and still have a little left over to fill out their roster. |

Did I see some article with actual quotes from EDM GM Chiarelli saying that he wanted to BLOW up that team and only McDavid, Draistal, and Nurse were gonna be not available??
If that's true... oh man... Hall, RNH, or Eberle... PLEASE!!! |

I will say this. Teams need superstars to win the cup. As in plural. Having Eichel and Stamkos gives us those 2 superstars. |

Let me rephrase, if the Rangers are serious, they will find another suitor for someone like Nash. We shouldn't restrict going after him because it effects Stamkos.
If the Rags want him, they will go after him |

They are -1M OVER the cap already with Scrivens 1.748M contract being the biggest that comes off the books besides 1.2M Brown and 2.8M Gilbert.
Markov and Petry or Emelin would have to be moved NO DOUBT.
Galchenyuk is their 1C/2C of the future so that could make Plekanec movable.
otherwise Gallagher, Desharnais, and/or Eller would have to be moved too.
That is A LOT of gutting to do when you don't have the young talent waiting to replace either.

We are one of the few teams that doesn't have to move any contracts out now to afford Stamkos. When it comes time to signing Eichel and Reinhart someone would have to get moved out |

Bylsma's not great but he's not Nolan. I'd put him with O'Reilly just to see what he can do. At this point it's not like we have anything to lose. |
