Agreed. I thought we should have gotten a 2nd and a prospect. or a conditional 2nd that could turn into a 1st.

It really doesn't matter, it's just so hard to watch this team make such a mockery of the game. The league changed the rules after Buffalo was dead last for one season, but this team has been pulling the crap for almost ten years now and they turn a blind eye to it.

It's different for Edmonton. Buffalo had a goal in mind, Eichel, Edmonton doesn't have a plan, and are just brutally incompetent. So much for the new "good" coach and GM, hey, look, same results. For all the people wanting the Sabres to not win. That's what happens when you don't win for years and then actually have talent. They still can't win.

I think it will be telling once the season ends. Would Anaheim be willing to pay him 4-4.5 per season? I would be surprised if they did.

I don't know that the actual numbers have ever been kicked around, but we know GMTM said at the TDL that his agent's negotiations with the Sabres over an extension "never got close."

So, with the knowledge that GMTM actually wanted him, and insisted that he be part of the ROR deal, we can presume that McGinn is looking for a big number for his next contract - as he should. The question is how big he will find.

Maybe... but maybe that was more an issue with years and not $$... I mean i don't know either way. But I'd have to believe to a degree he knows his place being 2/3rd line and definitely on the PP unit which is where he's obviously missed here.

So i don't seem him going i a want a billion gajillion dollars maybe he wants a 5 yr deal and GMTM offered up 3 idk

the markets the market. i think he placed mcginns value at a second, which is still a possibility. these conditional deals seem more common now, gms are able to mitigate looking bad in a trade by giving up a lower pick if the team doesnt have success after acquiring a player. somebody on here, i believe 89, suggested that mcginns agent was trying to get 5m/yr over 4 or 5 years. i would suggest that the agent probably has a glue sniffing problem but gms do crazy stuff on july first. i liked mcginn, not 5 years 25 million liked him though. bonus, if the sabres do plan on taking on a bunch of additional payroll (big splash in ufa or some kind of blockbuster trade), they can now walk away from mcginn.
