Besides Moulson not scoring anymore, he contributes nothing else. He can't make a play and just throws the puck away. They should just bench him. - sippyd
If he has the 3 years left that he does...isn't benching him in a year with no chance of playoffs a bad move? We may be stuck with him for at least a couple. The day you start benching him you close the door to any possibility of a bounce back. With a good offseason I think Moulson could be a decent 3rd line guy if he just got his scoring touch back. I'll take the giveaways if he can pot 15 goals even at this point. If you bench him you are accepting a very pricey buyout. Barring a miracle of Phoenix taking him...he's ours now. |

Unfortunately, I doubt that gets it done. It wouldn't surprise me if the Oilers traded their first pick (assuming it isn't Mathews) if they can get a top pairing dman in the deal. |

Ek says Hall is in play at the draft...
They want a D, a gritty center plus
If we draft 5-10th
Pysyk, Girgensons and our 1st - Stripes77
So then he's not available... Right?
Hahaha
If we draft 5th... That's all they're getting from me
They need a defenseman like Chychrun BAD

It is extremely shallow to think that just because he is not showing up on the scoresheet that he is basically playing tic-tac-toe on the glass with fans.
How many times did he force a bad pass with forechecking?
How many times did he cause a turnover?
How many times did he block a shot that went into a breakout?
How many times did he tip a pass across the crease?
How many times did he battle in the corner to get the puck to teammates?
How many times did he keep the puck in the zone to keep pressure up?
How many times did he screen a goaltender?
How many times did he get a puck off a faceoff?
If you can tell me that he didn't contribute in any of those ways.. THEN you can see that he is not contributing on the ice to his teammates.
I am so sick of people on here just picking ONE GUY and making him the scapegoat for EVERYTHING and tearing him apart over and over because they "don't like him".
There are plenty of guys on this team not contributing up to their contract but to pick on the guy that does everything asked of him... plays everywhere on the ice... leaves his body on the ice... gives 100% effort on everything he does..
You f#cks complain over and over about how we need a heart guy.. how we need that over the top play like its his last shift guy.. we need that guy that bleeds for his team and not the prima donnas out there...
That is just chicken sh1t... just absolute chicken sh1t you hypocritical cowards. - JVince11
A few thoughts:
A. I'm not sure you know what "hypocritical coward" means, because nothing I have said about Girgensons is hypocritical, and nothing I have done is cowardly.
B. The answer to your bolded underlined questions, THIS YEAR, is "Not Enough." I watch nearly every game, and the dude has been invisible. Not just on the scoresheet, also on the ice. This is the source of my own observation that he has sucked this year, and I'm presuming the source of the other posters who make the same comments. He made his bones doing all those things, and scoring, LAST YEAR. This year has been empty for him.
C. You are the one who chose +/- as the way of defining his worth. If you didn't like my use of the same standard, I guess that says more about who the hypocrite is.
D. You should take a few deep breaths, cowboy. A few deeper thoughts wouldn't hurt either. |

And how would we have done that? These trades are easy: "What's the most anyone will give me for player x?" Was GMTM supposed to jedi mind-trick someone into giving more? He is a 3rd line player. What he has done since we traded him is irrelevant. - Slump Buster
How many 20+ goals scorers do you know of that are only 3rd liners?

He's having his Drew Stafford moment. Whichever team bites and gives him 4-5 mil will regret it in a year or two. |

If that was in fact the deal he was looking for then yes, there's the door, cab is waiting for you and wish you the best of luck with the Ducks, cause he's not worth that. - Havic3814
So what is he worth?...I agree, 5 is prob too steep, but something around 4 is what you're going to pay for a 20 goal scorer.
I find the people on here very comical at times. Not willing to pay a rugged 20 goal guy, but willing to overpay a Stamkos almost 3 times as much for an extra, what, 15-20 goals? |

You're talking a guy who scores maybe 20 in McGinn to a guy who will score 35-40 and be anywhere from 70-85 points a year...

Well, I'm willing to be talked out of it, but here's my question.
If a 20 goal guy (who get assists along the way too - so maybe 30 points?) is only worth $4M, maybe, why is a 40 goal 80 point guy worth $12? Doesn't the math say 80 points is $10 if 30 is worth $4? |

Settle down, im obviously not trying to compare them head to head, im comparing them versus what they will produce AND cost.
There's a big difference there |

If you go by that Math...
You'll have a team full of McGinn's & ZERO star players bc none of them will be "worth" the $$$ as far as the equation u laid out goes
That sets us up to be pretty mediocre |

Neither are worth it most likely.
One of them is a top 5 NHL player. So the risk is worth it IMO.
If Stamkos falls flat, he's still a 30-35 goal scorer, that is helping the team.
If McGinn falls flat he's Matt Moulson |

thats a fair question. the chicago model of paying 5 or 6 guys big money and then getting production from guys not making big money has produced 3 of the last 6 cup winners. i like mcginn, especially at 3, not at 4+. pay the difference makers. |
