And the team that ends up with him ..... pays him nothing. Now he's a guy you could move to wing no problem. All we have to do is not win any more games this year. Too much to ask ? - fastek
I just looked at the standings
Winnipeg ties us if they win
Toronto has a game in hand on us. If they win they're only 3pts back.
Vancouver & Edmonton only 3pts back.
Calgary & Columbus only 2pts back.
We go on a little losing streak & we could finish in a decent spot |

Reason?
He's pretty much been the perfect backup goalie
Ullmark was ok,
But for his future development I think he's better off playing 50 games in Rochester next year instead of 20ish here - jdfitz77
A couple reasons and this isn't meant to bash Hanging Chad at all. He might command more in free agency than TM might be willing to pay. Second, I still get queasy watching this guy with his rebound control and tends to fight the puck at times. it's just what I see, especially earlier in the season.
He exceeded my expectations but he might want #1 money in free agency. I was impressed with Ullmark. His first season in NA, not familiar much with his surroundings and coming off double hip surgery, thought he did well. I think that he might be a decent back up for us next year but I also see the argument for keeping him in Roch to further his development.
Just a different spin imo. |

Agreed.
I would bring Ocho Cinco back on a 1 year $1.75 million deal. He has been good for us this year.
Ullmark isn't ready yet. He still over commits its pretty evident even in Rochester. He needs one more year of playing a ton of games. - Stripes77
I'd be ok if we even signed him for 2 more years
I don't see the need to rush Ullmark
Let him develop to the point where he's dominant in the ahl |

Big if... The teams below us have a very tough remaining schedule. All though yesterday proves anything is possible. The fact that we have had a long time off between games mixed with fan excitement to see new kids play and add that to the fact that we dominated Winnipeg last game and they are coming in from the west coast to play at 1PM game. I'd say it's a long shot we don't at least pick up a point.
Johnson has been on fire lately too... |

That's all fair
I guess I'd say bring back Chad for the right price
1.75 tops
I can't imagine someone would give him starter type $$$
What's neuvirth getting in philly? |

Neuvirth is getting $1.625M. I think CJ might want Lenner money this summer. |

For sure
Agree with all that...
But the other teams at the bottom all seem to be playing decent hockey for the most part, so idk that we're doomed to finish 7th necessarily
A few have games in hand on us too |

Neuvirth $$$ seems about right
I'm sure Chad will ask for 2+
Just doubt he actually gets it |

It's possible that he doesn't get it and he think he's been quoted as saying he would like to return. Carter Hutton is the only other UFA back up worth exploring. |

Other problem is Canucks play Edmonton twice and Calgary once
Edmonton also plays Calgary
Calgary also plays Arizona
Winnipeg only remaining games against teams not in playoff contention are against us and Ottawa
Columbus plays Toronto and us.
I think we have to pick 1/3 of Edmonton/Calgary/Vancouver and hope they win because if it's split that doesn't benefit us. Probably have to pull for Vancouver based on the fact they play three games against teams below us and Edmonton has like 2 or 3 games in hand on us. Winnipeg has the toughest schedule remaining and Columbus's isn't too grand either. I'm hoping for 3-5th but if thing's stay the course the best we can hope for is 5-7th |

I really have changed my perspective now.... I really want us to go after Stamkos.
Imagine this city buzzing after that kind of superstar acquisition. Imagine the other players and coaches around the league after hearing that Stamkos has bought in to Buffalo and their direction.
Imagine the guys that would want to come and play here or get traded here at deadlines.
I think that we could easily shuffle ROR and Stamkos between 1C in order to keep Eichel at 2C. I really don't want to move Eichel to the wing but look at how well Reinhart has done with the change and they were still able to move him back to Center when ROR went down.
Lines like
Kane - Stamkos - Reinhart
Eichel - ROR - Ennis/Nylander
ROR - Stamkos - Ennis/Nylander
Kane - Eichel - Reinhart
Kane - ROR - Stamkos
Nylander - Eichel - Reinhart/Ennis
Dear god... That is stuff that nightmares are made of for opposing teams. - JVince11
Yes! You've encapsulated it all here.

I would love to load up on d-men in the system. Given how much of a crap shoot they are, it's good to have as many "maybes" as possible. |
