They finally pulled Ulmark after they're down 5-1. Don't think he's ready to be a backup over Johnson. - sippyd
He's looked awful...
Very unfortunate |

The vinny contract is actually why i believe the lightning are stalling with stamkos. They've seen this almost exact scenario. - Sabresfan-365
How old was Vinny when he cashed in and what was his contract? |

29. Second contract down. Ouch.
http://www.generalfanager.com/players/1528
$10M for the first 7 years of an 11 year contract. Last 2 years $1.5M and $1M.
Edit: Bought out after 4. |

Well what type of player is Jack?
I see no reason at all that any of these super talented guys can't play on the wing
They all do it in the Olympics effectively
Canada's forwards are like 75% centers every time - jdfitz77
More of a playmaker than a sniper. I just think it would restrict his god given gifts too much. |

Matthews can be moved to wing forever .... no problem. We get him and there's zero room/need for a Stamkos. It's really the best case scenario. We save a TON of dough to use on the roster rebuild. - fastek
I don't see why Matthews can be moved to the wing, & Sam can be moved to the wing....
But it's outta the question for Jack to be there
Of course it would be great to just win the lotto |

I heard on WGR this morning that the average length of all Eichel's goals is 30 ft.
He does not have a shot like OV, but put him on his off wing, and I think he can shoot it well. - rmiethaner
He's fast & he's got a great shot
Jack can play any of the forward positions IMO |

For those that think elite goal scorers don't tail off after 26, 27. Here is a prime example.
Edit: Apparently you can't embed the hockey DB tables.
His point totals from the age of 26-32 from 05-06 to 11-12. Which would be a Stamkos deal 75, 108, 92, 67, 70, 54, 49. 1 good year followed by 2 great years followed by 2 more pretty good years followed by 2 years where he fell off the table. Would you pay $10M for 54 points? I wouldn't. If it got me a cup 2 years before that? Probably, yeah, almost undoubtedly, but that's far, far from assured. - Wetbandit1
Most of them don't drop off like Vinny did though. At least not the upper echelon players.

So he can only make plays from the wing?
It's not bubble hockey!
Jack will have plenty of opportunities to pass & shoot, regardless of what position he plays |

I'm still trying to figure out why we would want to move our best player to wing if his natural spot is centre.
No reason to move him to wing, get better wingers around him, don't move him over to accommodate lesser players. JMO. |

First...
Stamkos is better than Eichel for now
But to answer your question...
Why have Zetterberg play on the wing with Datsyuk?
How about Marleau on Thornton's wing?
If u have the opportunity to bring in a guy as good as Stamkos, you can try to move guys around & see what fits...
If Montreal can acquire Shea Weber, should they not do that bc both he & PK are right handed?
Stamkos may not be a "winger" per say,
What what winger is UFA that even comes close to being that talented?

Datsyuk is a better centre and so it Thornton. Bring in Stamkos and play him wing, he has obviously demonstrated that he can do it.
It don't think there is a chance in hell Stamkos comes here anyway but I guess its fun to talk about. |

I'm just trying to say lots of great Centers play on a line together
Ppl seem to be totally closed off to the idea for some part
Idk if Stamkos will come here either...
But if he does, I see no real reason it can't work |

If he comes here then its a great problem to have, all I'm saying is Eichel would be the last guy I would move to wing out of our current centres. Keep him where he is most comfortable until he at least has a few more years under his belt. |

Lots of young guys actually play the wing when they 1st get to the NHL bc it's easier on the defensively
But either way, I think it would work out just fine |

The ACC is guaranteed to have 2 teams in the Final Four. That governing body is probably having one drunk celebration tonight. |
