Thanks Bill. Gudas is a beast; he has listen to the coaching staff, and is playing hard, and smart hockey. Ghost is still a "Blue-line King." And, Mason is playing out of his mind. As mentioned, if we can start to get some scoring from Coots, and Simmer, then we might just win a playoff spot. However, we are still giving up way too many shots against, and too many quality scoring chances. If Mason can keep healthy, he seems to thrive on a large number of shots, and lots of playing time.
Bill, is it too early to start looking at the team awards for the season? Who do you consider to be the front runners? - OrangeAndBlack1
I'm not Bill, but here are my choices
MVP: Giroux or Ghost.
Ashbee: Ghost
Class guy: lots of good choices here, but I'll go with Nick Schultz
most improved: Brayden Schenn

Initially I said both yesterday and that Ott game would be the only games Id play Stolie in.. Still dont think the Ott game is a bad idea. Just think the Caps game could be a good one as well. - jak521
Yeah, thats an interesting one. The Caps have basically clinched everything and could be on cruise control by then and possibly even giving star players nights off here and there.

I would. Its already going to be a tough game, might be the hardest to win.. Why not rally your team around your rookie goalie. Makes everyone play that much harder. We need to win a lot. So for me, the one game that would be the most difficult I would use any motivator possible. - jak521
thinking about it more, I am of this mind set. every game is vital obviously but they absolutely must win the obvious winnable games such as Arizona and Winnipeg so maybe putting the unknown commodity in those games isn't the best idea |

Agreed. The game I'd start Stolarz in would be the home game against Ottawa on 4/2. It's the first of the next back to back and the game on 4/3 is against Pittsburgh. By starting the rookie against Ottawa, perhaps the Flyers don't fall into the trap of looking ahead to the next night against the Pens. - BiggE
That's a good point, it would be very easy to look ahead to that Penns game but playing Stolarz would most likely bring more focus to the Ottawa game. |

Exactly. Plus, putting him in against the Caps, they dont know him so theres that, and the players will (should) play even harder knowing that they sorta need to carry him. |

This is what will likely happen. Very few NHL coaches are going to start a rookie in his first NHL game during the stretch run in a playoff race. However, and only because their schedule is so damned condensed, I could see him getting one game. |

Talk about a player that has turned it on...B Schenn. This is as encouraging as anything I have seen this year..
I would take this for a top 6 next year any day.. Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, B Schenn, Coots and Koneckny
Replace Coots with Stamkos (shifting 14 to 3 line center) and I take it even more. A guy can dream. |

Any reports on what everyone saw with Mason towards the end of the 3rd last night?
His post game interview looked fine.

To me the biggest reason for the Flyers recent run of success points back to 1 thing:
the Flyers have stopped taking PENALTIES!
for the majority of the season I called the Flyers addicts.
They were addicted to taking penalties. It was mind numbing the amount of penalties they would take per game.
All of a sudden their penalty count is down and their win percentage is up...

Hakstol: Hey Radko, wouldn't it be more fun to score a goal than take a 5-minute major?
Gudas: ...wow, I never thought of that. Thanks coach! |

They just need to pass Detroit or Boston and they're in. Pass one and it doesn't matter what the other one does. |

What the hell is going on with Streit? He has looked lost and is a turnover machine...lately I cringe when he has the puck on his stick, almost shot the puck in his own net |

There is no chance he is 100%.. Im just interested to see if he can rebound next year. That will be huge if he can get back to usual form. |

Ehh...maybe he aggravated something, but during the Flyers huge last month he was a vital part of it. He was back to his old self at even strength -- people probably just remember the pp awkward dump ins, but his overall game was sharp. It looked like he came back from his injury nicely. But he's been awful the last handful of games. No two ways about it. Hopefully it's just a lull. |

How (frank)ing dare anyone out there make fun of Mark after all he has been through.!
He's getting old, he went through an injury. He had a (frank)in bad pubic plate.
His coach turned out to be a user, a cheater, and now he's going through a custody battle. All you people care about is.. readers and making money off of him.
HE'S A HUMAN! (ah! ooh!) What you don't realize is that Mark is making you all this money and all you do is write a bunch of crap about him.
He hasn't performed well on the ice in months. His song is called "give me more" for a reason because all you people want is MORE! MORE-MORE, MORE: MORE!.
LEAVE HIM ALONE! You are lucky he even performed for you BASTARDS!
LEAVE MARK ALONE!..Please.
Mike Milbury talked about professionalism and said if Mark was a professional he would've pulled it off no matter what.
Speaking of professionalism, when is it professional to publicly bash someone who is going through a hard time.
Leave Mark Alone Please. !
Leave Mark Streit alone! right now!.I mean it.!
Anyone that has a problem with him you deal with me, because he is not well right now.

Bad time of the season to go into a lull, but let's hope thats all it is and he can get back to playing the level he was earlier on. Could his body be wearing down due to his age or is it mental now that Ghost has taken over as the offensive driven defenceman? Maybe hes trying to push a little to much knowing that his role on top pp unit is no longer his and trying to prove something which is backfiring and not playing a simple game?
