Jake is fighting it right now. I think his legs looked better last game than in the previous ones, but he's definitely looking like someone coming off injury. Hopefully he rounds into form.
The Gagner-Cousins line was solid last night. Didn't score but they were one of the better lines. Tangent but I never understood the "he has to play top 6" argument. The third line is just a sheltered scoring line anyway. In fact playing "top 6" with Coots is much harder assignments than with Cousins. - Mononoke
Thank you for your take. I was worried having gagner instead of Laughton threat line would be a little weaker defensively. Sure hope voracek turns it around for the big push here and earns some of that contract |

Hak doesnt appear to be one to change things when the team is doing well.
I would Move Jake back up with Giroux and Simmonds.
Put Couturier and Schenn back together. |

Read and Cousins are good enough 2 way to pick up any slack. And I think Laughton isn't any better defensively than Gagner. I'd prefer them both be in, but that's me. |

If Hall was really available at the draft from Edmonton, would it be worth it for the Flyers without destroying their future team? How much is too much?
Discuss among yourself.... - Glak18
I like Hall. Not sure what you would have to give up. Plus Hall has a 6mil cap hit. Simmonds would be an ideal player for them. But you would almost have to get them to take MacDonald due to cap hits.
I would just rather spend money and try to get Stamkos. |

The amount of poop it would take to get EDM to part w/ Hall would probably destroy the future and present... let's just put it that way.
(now Nail Yakupov on the other hand... maybe you could buy low on him and it could end up being worth it) |

I like Laughton too but who do you take out? Hak seems to love his 4th line too much |

I've been thinking yak for a couple years. His stock can't be any lower although I have a feeling they will try to package him with nuge to try and get a defenseman |

Problem I would have is...I would not give up Provorov no way.
Simmonds would be a nice fit in Edmonton, I was thinking Schenn, but Wayne would be easier to part with.

He looks somewhat "off" to me and some others. Unsure if he's not 100% or misses being with CG. |

He's always been slow. He's always been weak. He does look off mentally. As I said, he looks awful right now and in recent weeks. But it's making people forget he put together a real solid stretch post injury which coincided with the streak. If you disagree that he did, I don't know what else to say. My eyes and the stats told me otherwise. Just like they're saying he's been very disappointing of late. It's why I'm happening he can snap out of it. - Mononoke
I do disagree..
He came back in January and looked totally different. His offensive game was no where to be found, he struggled with moving the puck. He wasnt much better till the little spurt late in February where he had like 5 or 6 points in 3 games.. I really dont remember him being back to normal, and the stats that you talk about dont support it either. 3 points over his first 24 games back (a goal and 2 secondary assists)... But whatever.. he isnt the same player he was before the injury. |

I think it's a holdover from the era where two scoring lines, a checking line, and an energy line were standard. |

Id say just swap him and schenn but seems like that first line has turned the season around and deserves to stay intact |

It would have to be really low. I never liked Yak his draft year and I still dont like him. His hockey sense is terrible. |

But why would you do that?
You are giving up a guy who is a lock for 20-30 goals, 50+ points, a physical leader, your only top pairing d-men, a top prospect and a first for a guy who only scores a bit more than Simmer...
Thats crazy to me.

See I am not sure I would give that much up. What has Hall really done? Hes had injuries. I just would rather spend money for a guy like Stamkos. Unless I could do something like Simmonds, Del Zotto and 2nd rounder for Hall.
I would maybe be more interested in seeing what an RFA like Mike Hoffman would cost. Read reports that he might be available at the draft.

I think it's him. He was rockin and rollin with Coots pre-injury. He's getting knocked off pucks a little easy, isn't skating so quickly, and seems unsure when he has the puck. He will get better I have no doubts, but that's on him, not G or Coots imo. |

Maybe Radko Gudas (gold) is a dark horse for the most improved. He has been trmendous down the stretch and in general has made all of us quickly forget that other Schenn. Ryan White has been pretty damn good too. - Lexington Flyer
Gudas would be a good choice, but I'd still go with Schenn |

I agree. I dont think there is a correlation to who he is playing with. His issue is when he has the puck on his stick. Cant seem to control it, isnt winning the battles he usually dominates... I think he still isnt 100% either. He will shake it though... Might be the most competitive person on the team. |

Hall is 23, on a pretty decent contract for his performance...plays on the Oilers, put him on a competitive team and he's a 40 goal man. His speed and grit would be amazing mesh with Giroux.
Personally I don't think Edmonton would want Streit, Del Zotto would be more interesting to them. The problem Edmonton has is they don't need more young players, they need established NHLers. Hall is one of their veterans, they would need someone to replace him and Simmonds would be perfect.
As for prospects, having depth in a position allows trades that strengthen other positions. Thinking all the defensive prospects are going to become all-stars is bit naive, must give to get.
Flyers could sign Stamkos, unfortunately people still think the Flyers can afford him. Even if they do fit him in, a few players will have to get moved to make room. |
