If we had Connor McDavid, a litany of other talented forwards and a defense that resembled loose stool....yes.

Then you are a fool. Why would we trade hall for a 2nd pairing dman when he will easily get us a top pairing dman and in the right deal could completely retool or defence core. that trade sets us back and does nothing to move us forward.

I'm not saying the deal has to be exactly for that return, but you're also assuming that there is a team out there that wants to trade a top-pairing defenseman.

There are a few teams that are in the same situation the oilers are in only they have an abundance of D rather than forwards.

Such as who? What team out there has a defenseman better than Hamonic that they can afford to lose and you think would be willing to move because they need forward help?

they can always sign Stamkos when he flees from Tampa and turns down Toronto.

Edmonton shouldn't be allowed to pick in the top 10 for 5 years MINIMUM. Stop rewarding futility.

Be aware that it is the Oil who blow - and need D men and goalies and everythng else under the sun - the teams that have an abundance of D men and goalies is limited - Ducks are one and can trade from position of strength - why offer the moon to start ?

To finish last again as they likely will the way they're going does it really matter? Clearly the management group of this team is beyond incompetent and somehow they'll find a way to eff this up and you poor oil fans will be chearing for a bottom feeder again next year!!! I mean seriously how many first and second overall picks would any other team in the league need in order to parlay those assets into a perennial contender? This franchise has an abundance of riches and yet they haven't got a clue what to do with them? First order of business should be to get rid of those morons before they do something drastic and ruin what you fans have suffered through for years for nothing! Remember the isles a dozen or so years ago? Same deal as the oil of today. Bottom feeders for years, abundance of riches because of it, incompetent management, end of story for them and before you knew it they were starting over without having accomplished squat.

Islanders have the D in Hamonic and goalies. Hamonic gives them a very good dman on a great contract and someone who would want to be in Edmonton and re-sign with them when his deal is up.

Problem: Taylor Hall doesnt want to go to NYI, since J Tavares will not be re signing.
