Just spitballing this idea.....
If the Preds have another poor playoffs maybe a Hall n Weber package could be worked out. Its the closest the Oil will prolly get to acquiring a stud D.
Lindholm+ from the Ducks would be interesting.
Maybe Lindholm/Rackell/prospect |

Shea Weber is already 30. I doubt the Oilers are keen on moving Hall for a guy who's on the back-nine of his career. They aren't contending for a Cup anytime soon, with or without Weber. |

If I'm the Oilers, my target team would be the Islanders. With Okposo coming off the books and the "rumored" availability of Hamonic, I think sending Hall to the Islanders makes a lot of sense. I know the Isles were supposedly looking to trade Hamonic for another dman, but this trade make sense.
TO NYI: Taylor Hall
TO EDM: Hamonic, 1st rounder and a either a decent prospect or possibly one of their Pending RFAs.
Being a Pens fan I would not want them to make this trade, but I feel they're a good match. |

Maybe so but playoffs r the priority n Weber would stabilize them n let Nurse n Klefom grow into their roles. |

Edmonton has been threatening a big trade for years! When MacT came in to Manage the team year ago, he promised action! Guess what......nothng happened. Hall and Eberle are the only players they would get a good Dman for so yeah they would have to be the ones to go. But again this is the Oilers, I'll believe it when I see it. |

Maybe, but I'd be willing to bet that the viability of long-term contention is the top priority. Not just maybe squeaking into the playoffs once or twice before Weber's game take's a major downward turn. If I were Chiarelli, I'd push for a way to make it Josi or else I wouldn't make the deal.
I really only see three teams that would be willing to move a truly talented defenseman for Hall. The Isles, the Ducks, and the Blues.
Right off the bat I'd cross Anaheim off that list, because let's be real...the Oilers aren't going to want to move Hall in-division.
Shattenkirk is the most talented of the group and provides major offense from the back-end. No arguing he's the biggest star. That said, he's only got one more year remaining on his deal. Chiarelli would either get burned like Snow did on the Vanek deal, if Shatty doesn't want stay in EDM, or he'd have to fork over a ton of money/cap space.
Hamonic is the youngest, cheapest, and signed until 2020. Anyone who doesn't think Hamonic is a #2 defenseman on 2/3+ of the teams in the league isn't watching him enough. He's not flashy, but he does everything very well. He's not the type of cornerstone player you build a franchise around, but he would be an extremely welcomed cog on any teams blueline. Isles would have to add a significant amount to make the deal work for Hall, but I don't think it's out of the question. |

You may be right, but I think Hamonic for Hall straight up isn't enough for Hall even though financially they win out. A 1st from the NYI isn't going to be a very high pick, but maybe doing that, a pending RFA or decent prospect gets in done.
ANA seems like a logical choice to deal with as most of pointed out, but one thing EDM has been missing out on is a dman like Hamonic. They need to tighten up defensively. |

If Hall gets traded, he's not getting traded for Hamonic.
No offense to Hamonic, but Hall is a first line LW on any team in the league not the Capitals or the Stars. Chia's not setting the team back 5 years to get Hamonic.
Realistically if the Oilers are going for Hamonic, they're gonna offer some package centered around Eberle. Last time Ebs and Tavares played together it worked out pretty well... |

The Isles have said they aren't interested in Eberle. |

I would be interested in Hall.
I have talked with our 8 Blues fans about being open to keeping Shattenkirk and possibly trading Petro with the right deal. |

Probably what they would have to do to have a shot at landing him. |

Well that's why what I suggest was not Hamonic for Hall straight up. |

Maatta, Bonino, Sunqvist, a 2nd in 2016 and a 2nd in 2017 for Hall? |

I'm not sure if that was a serious suggestion, but the Pens won't be going after Hall and certainly aren't moving Maatta.
If the Pens didn't have Kessel, then maybe they'd be entertaining a deal for Hall, but that's not the situation. |

With the Pens a lot depends on this season's outcome.... Kessel is nearly untradeable and the Pens would never get equal value |

The oilers can accomplish all of the deals that were suggested in this thread without trading Hall so why would they give up a franchise player for anything less than a franchise D coming back. There is no deal between the Isles and EDM that could involve Hall that would make any sort of sense. We are done looking for prospects, so Hamonic + picks/prospects does nothing for us. Hall for Shat or Piet is a conversation worth having. |

Chiarelli would never trade a star player for a meager return. |
