Could see Edmonton still wanting to get a defenceman and trading us for our 6th-9th draft pick for Taylor Hall. We'd obviously have to give up a roster player or two as well. - bluengold12
It would have to be a trade. No other FA worth a big splash. |

It better not be P. Kane. They don't have enough assets to get him.
Has to be a switch from forward to defense.
Edit: Don't know of any other FA that would be as exciting as Stamkos, so I would expect it would be from trade. Not much to offer. - rmiethaner

Stamkos as a FA would not cost anything, but if they go for Hall, then Pegula's comments about the goal of a cup in three years when he first bought the team would now mean something.
They would still need to address the back end |

They need a top six LW goal scorer and a top pairing LHD |

Well, Hall would take care of one.
Yandle the other, although I am not confident that he is the answer.
Still need something else. |

First, Pysyk, Girgs, and then the over payment...
I have been thinking about it too. They just don't have enough to trade for that type of player in the position they are in. They can't give up something that they already have and need.
Edit: Especially with other GM's seeing what Murray has already given up in three big trades. |

The first round pick which would be one of the top three defenceman would be very enticing to them. Especially because they will be stuck with drafting another forward. Getting that pick plus a gritty bigger (hopeful for them) power forward in Girgensons plus either Pysyk or if push comes to shove Guhle. Though I don't want to part with him. |

Gotta toss ennis in there as the forward in return. They'll want a much better defenseman than Pysyk to give up hall

The first round pick they would be getting would be their best or 2nd best defenceman |

The only reason why Pysyk is mentioned is because of his time with the Oil Kings. Heck, there was even an Oiler fan in here today who was intrigued by a Pysyk and Eberle type of deal. |

I understand why he is mentioned. I just can't see Edmonton accepting our third pairing guy as the only NHL ready player for their top winger |

Don't agree - playing the offwing allows for one-timers. Tougher for dmen to play the offside, cuz They're on the backhand wehn along the boards - turbo044
I agree with at least part of this. If your main job is to shoot, off wing is nice. Most of the other stuff is easier on your true wing. Ive heard if you play pro, you have to be exceptionally fast to play the off wing. Dont know about defense, i would guess its probably easier for a better skater though. Angles are probably easier on your true side. |

1st round pick (A defenceman which would be ready either this year or next) Pysyk a steady puck moving defenceman from the area. Plus Girgensons. A bigger winger with potential. Maybe they throw in a prospect or a pick too. |

I do think Girgensons would fill a need for Edmonton. They're all finesse/skill up front, and they really don't have that style of a player. Might be a nice change of scenery for him, too.
