I must be out of my mind, because I could've sworn we traded a 1st round pick for someone to be our #1.
It's one thing to question lehner but when GM gives up a first rounder for a goalie he drafted, it pretty much shuts the door on the goaltending search for a little while. - Sabresfan-365
Plus, I'm not even sure what a "bonafid" #1 goalie is. |

As are you. Talbot's numbers aren't anything too special...
Eberle I could see something like a 3rd Girgensons and one of our D prospects.
Risto would be off the table unless we get to keep our 1st...
I think more likely it would be our first round pick Girgensons plus Guhle or Pysyk - bluengold12
Talbot has been playing phenomenal through most of this season. If you have seen him play lately, he is actually giving the Oilers strong support to win games. Don't forget that even though our defence is an absolute poopshoot, he is still doing a great job whenever he plays.
As for wing depth, we have added in Kassian and Maroon, both who have been great additions.
If Risto is off the table, Chia would probably be not interested. However, I could see Chia be a little bit creative if he were to make a deal with Buffalo.
You could possibly be looking at a small package involving Girgen and Yakupov IF Chia decides to move RNH. You guys wouldn't have to move as many parts and and it makes sense for both teams.
Another possibility is Chia moving our first for Risto. If it is a #2 or #3 overall pick, I can see Buffalo attaining interest. |

You could literally copy and paste that top paragraph and replace the name Talbot with Lehner and it would still be accurate. So why are we still searching and your not?
Last deal makes no sense for us. Just creates an extra hole and sets us back several years. We'd end up being the oilers of the east. |

The thing is, a first draft pick for an unproven goalie (Able to lead a team and keep them in the lead) with an injury record, yet great potential was a big risk for Buffalo. Your GM knew that and so did everybody else.
I hope for the best for him, especially since he has every tool a great goalie needs to succeed. However, I hope that his past injuries don't interfere with reaching his max. potential. |

The difference with Talbot is that he had a phenomenal last year and he is following it up with not as good as a season, but a still respectable year.
Lehner has yet to even hold down the fort yet. He has been doing so lately, but at the time of the trades, Talbot was more touted than Lehner.
As for the last deal, that is probably why Chia most likely won't be doing Business with Buffalo. They will most likely offer Chia nothing that would make us a better team other than Risto. |

A solid goalie that can be counted on playing the starter position. |

Number 2 or 3 overall for Risto? I would do that all day if Murray felt good about whatever defenceman he would be in line to get with our other pick... That being said Hall for Risto straight up would be all I would be willing to do unless you're throwing in more to the pot.
As for the goalie situation I feel far more confident in Lehner (sans injury) then I do about Talbot being a number 1 goalie.
For Eberle I think Girgensons Pysyk and a 3rd would be a fair deal.

Sergachev will go in top 10 I think. According to McKenzie a lot of scouts see him as the best defenceman in the draft. If Chychrun & Juolevi go 5& 6 (very possible) We can either go Nylander, Sergachev or Dubois. (Though I prefer the first two) - bluengold12

Talbot had a phenomenal season as a backup, doesn't make him more touted than Lehner. Less risky of a trade? Maybe, though keep in mind Talbot was a pending UFA and Lehner is RFA/cost controlled.
Not a knock on Talbot, rather the statement that we're still searching for #1. Even if it's a high risk move, the price we paid and the fact that Murray loves him makes it pretty obvious that the search is over either way. |

whoosh. That's the sound of an admittedly poor joke going over your head. It's "bonafide", not "bonafid". |

I'm not really sure I'd say Lehner has a past with injuries. He's been hurt twice, once a fluke where he got kneed/kicked by his teammate and the second was arguably caused because he tried to come back before he was in top shape. |

Over/under 1.5 fights for Lehner next year if he plays 75% of the games? I say over unless he absolutely destroys whomever he fights first. |

Key words, long ago. People have short memories and "it'll never happen to me". So maybe I answered my own question. I still say over. |

I would bet that Murray is not going to trade Risto for anything, it's not good business to keep chasing your tail trying to find that true #1 Defenseman, which for my money that is what Risto is going to be. The object of Murray's search will be to find the complimentary piece to Risto. |
