It wasn't pretty, but they did what they needed to do which was to come away with 2 points. Here are some observations:

Ghost is simply amazing, his skills are off the chart.

Couturier may just be the MVP of this team. If you don't think so, compare their record with and without him. He plays the toughest minutes and gets the toughest matchups every damned night, and he's been averaging nearly a point per game down the stretch.

I love the way B. Schenn has been playing since the start of 2016. No worries, he will be re-signed.

Glad to see Simmer score, hopefully he goes on one of his hot streaks.

Major props to Mason, he's doing what it takes to win games and what more can you ask of your goaltender?

AMac is just awful, it's hard to believe that Medvedev or even Alt or Morin could be worse.

Hopefully a full day off with no travel will help them recharge their batteries and they can pick up a big win over a Caps team that is playing for absolutely nothing at this point.

GO FLYERS!!

When it comes to Medvedev, I can see that Manning starts before him IF the team believes that they will just let him walk at the end of the season. However, I have no idea why Amac is playing instead of Medy.. He's had some decent flashes, but I'd take Medy.

Hmmm... just realized I could have been making Ghost Busters jokes after the Pens beat the Flyers a week and a half ago. I must be slipping on my sarcasming.

AMac, right now at least, is just doing nothing well. He generates no offense, is ridiculously soft in his own end, gives up the zone with no challenge at all. He is a waste of a roster spot IMO.

Somewhere north of the border, Don Cherry is losing his poop.

Amazing, not a single Canadian team in the playoffs. I think I read that is the first time since 1969. Could be mistaken though.

Yeah. I think you're right. The last time was the 69-70 season, and at that point there were only two Canadian clubs.

I'm Canadian and personally. I love seeing this in some ways. I don't like the economic drawbacks of local bars etc not getting the business, but I do like that the media will not shove the Canadian teams down our throats, and I won't get a Habs or Ottawa fan in my favs saying. How can you cheer for an American team?? To which I answer that my club normally has more Canadian players than theirs and that the last teams comprised of all Canadians to win the cup was the flyers. That shuts them up!!

Although it was going to happen regardless of last night's outcome... I thank you for this. The joy to just sneer at any Canadian team... its marvelous.

You guys would go nuts up here with the way the media focuses solely on Canadian clubs. I mean, the Capitals could set the record for points in a season this year, and all you would hear on sportsnet or TSN is how well the Leafs rebuild is progressing or that McDavid is God instead of the fact that they are perennial bottom feeders. Meanwhile, when it comes to the Flyers, in the last 2 mins of the show, they'll show one goal from the game, and say when will the Flyers sort out their goaltending and I can't believe GM Bob Clarke doesn't address this..haha

I think it was just a panic move; similar to the JVR trade. We needed defensive help as soon as possible, and Homer didn't want to lose Amac to open market after giving up assets to trade for him. Obviously his fix it now mentality didn't consider future repercussions. And I don't think anyone expected Amac's play to take this much of a step back.

Can't say that I'm surprised, the Philly sports media has the same obsession with the Eagles.

I think this was one of the few "inconsistent 60 minute games " where they came away with 2 points.

That was a well thought out post by that writer.

And ultimately, they are still gonna give it to McDavid.

This. Turn on sports radio yesterday thinking they'd talk about Flyers or Nova. Five minutes of discussing Eagles oline before I turned it off

I can get why McDavid will win it. All things equal, he's been the best rookie this year (when healthy) and he'd probably have as much impact on the Flyers as Ghost, just in a different way. I personally believe that Ghost should win, but I could live with McDavid winning it.

And yet he's playing 20+ minutes a game including 2+ minutes on the much improved PK unit, leading the team in +/-, and scoring at a higher rate than any dman on the team but Ghost and Streit.

No offense.

MacDonald's been a huge part of the team's success since MDZ got hurt and you're just going to have to deal with that fact.
