I have no idea why Amac is playing instead of Medy.. He's had some decent flashes, but I'd take Medy. - Hextall271
Yes, you do. The coach trusts him in any situation, and has no faith in Medvedev whatsoever. |

This. Turn on sports radio yesterday thinking they'd talk about Flyers or Nova. Five minutes of discussing Eagles oline before I turned it off - EducatedOpinion
Aint that some chit? Flyers making a playoff push and they talk about a rebuilding team during the offseason. I switch stations or just pop my ipod.
Great win last night. Please, for all that is good and holy, keep it up and don't lose steam!! |

Yeah. I think you're right. The last time was the 69-70 season, and at that point there were only two Canadian clubs.
I'm Canadian and personally. I love seeing this in some ways. I don't like the economic drawbacks of local bars etc not getting the business, but I do like that the media will not shove the Canadian teams down our throats, and I won't get a Habs or Ottawa fan in my favs saying. How can you cheer for an American team?? To which I answer that my club normally has more Canadian players than theirs and that the last teams comprised of all Canadians to win the cup was the flyers. That shuts them up!! - Hextall271
Canadian folks stop drinking? Puh-leez, this will only help their business what with all the crying in their beers all playoffs long. |

Medvedev could not learn to pick and choose his spots. Just too many unforced errors. Hard to deal with |

And yet he's playing 20+ minutes game including 2+ minutes on the much improved PK unit, leading the team in +/-, and scoring at a higher rate than any dman on the team but Ghost and Streit.

No offense.
MacDonald's been a huge part of the team's success since MDZ got hurt and you're just going to have to deal with that fact. - Feanor
The fact that the defensemen they put on the PP are ahead of the ones they don't in PPG is mind blowing to me |

As much as I dislike the Habs.. Around the Bell centre are all kinds of bars and restaurants that reap the rewards of a deep playoff run such as two years ago. It's really big for a lot of the Canadian cities, and them not having one team in the playoffs hurts. Now for Toronto, they have the Jays and the Raptors who are comeptetitive, so it's prob not as bad. |

He might be helping the PK, tough to really measure that, but apparently he isn't hurting their efforts, so that's good. But trotting out p/gp as some sort of indicator of AMac's helping the team is a stretch. |

Well, I know that a lot of Leafs fans have an alternate team to cheer for. They've told me, I have the Leafs, and a team that makes the playoffs to cheer for come April haha |

These stats are four games behind so they don't include MacDonald's latest offensive contribution, which I think is a good example of what he needs to be doing to help the team - getting the puck to Ghost quickly and accurately.

Am I reading correctly that Norris Medvedev has taken the spot occupied on the team previously held by Art Ross Akeson? |

Clode brings the experience and the leadership
Ghost brings the charisma and energy
Only they can lead our nation to greatness and maybe the playoffs. |

Honestly, I don't care what the numbers say. I know, from I what I've actually seen, they seem do be doing well in spite of him. He has been ok, not great, but ok, on the PK. However, at ES, he's not looked good at all.
edit: And really, outscoring Schultz, Manning and Gudas is supposed to be a huge accomplishment for a Dman making 5 million per? |

Ok. So you'd take AMac over MDZ in the lineup?
Maybe Med is already gone and the Flyers are stuck with AMac so they might as well play him. And maybe there would be a dropoff in play from AMac to Med, but I'd certainly get him in a game or two prior to the end of the season because odds are good if the Flyers actually make it into the playoffs, he's going to be needed at some point. |

No, there's more to playing defense than scoring points. I was just pointing out that the "no offense" criticism of MacDonald is bullpoop. The best lineup would be:
MDZ-Gudas
Schultz-Streit
MacDonald-Ghost

That's why I think he's playing over Medvedev...a chemistry, probably from their time on the Phantoms, with Ghost. And you're right, he moves it to Ghost and goes from there. |

I personally am a fan of what AMac has done offensively and in transition up the ice. It is the defense I have gripes about...but the stats you showed are very biased and don't prove a point like you think it does
The two most obvious were power play time and the fact that this season has showcased two completely different Flyers teams. I know you know how bad the Flyers were at scoring at the beginning of the year and what you posted makes no mention of that despite how important I think it is to the numbers
Also, ice time. Medvedevs P/60 is very close to AMac |

Good timing with the rise of the 2nd pp unit and decline of the 1st. I give White all the credit for turning AMac into Ghost2. |
