I have a program signed by the entire Nordiques 88-89 team. Got to go on the team bus. All the guys were eating chicken wings so there's grease stains. Sakic signed it 88. Mogilny's autograph is on the same page as well. - dadeadhead
Joe Sakic and 75 k is what quebec got from the rangers for Michel Bergeron |

This entire line of talk was all based on the "what if" we had won the Cup in 06-07
That pretty much squashes all that you're saying - jdfitz77
Oh, I thought you meant had we kept those 2 we would have won more cups after that year. 05-06 and 06-07 were our windows. 07-08, even with 23 and 48, wouldn't have gotten us a cup. IMO. |

That's a fair point too
I think Vegas AND Seattle (most likely) enter the league in a couple years to balance it out
Once they went to the uneven conferences,
It all but assured there would be 2 expansion teams out west
I think Kansas City & Houston are other strong possibilities out west - jdfitz77
my money is on houston and vegas, due to seattle not having a building
portland, oklahoma city long shots
I bet panthers move to quebec |

Not at all.
Paying Briere and Drury the Sabres would have lost at least 2 young forwards. Vanek for sure would be gone and probably Roy. Darcy couldn't draft very well. This talk of dynasty is hilarious. Even winning one cup that would have been it. Considering the Sabres teams after the 06-07 had issues dealing with how the NHL went back to calling the game...
Had Darcy been a good GM he would have already won a cup before the 05-06 season. Back in the Hasek days they should have had 1 maybe 2 cups, but Darcy had no clue. Had he lucked into 1 cup I couldn't possibly see him building a dynasty. |

Kansas City has been trying to get a tenant into the Sprint Center for a long time, and the NBA doesn't look like it's going to oblige. |

Washington trades Gaetan Duchesne, Alan Haworth, and a 87 1st (Sakic) for Dale Hunter and Clint Malarchuk...... |

darcy targeted keeping drury, not briere
wrong choice
he kept connolly and kotalick over jp and campbell
wrong choice
let grier wak
bad choice
when it blew up in his face, he should have kept the picks for vanek, shopped miller and started all over

100% disagree
There's ZERO CHANCE Vanek would've been gone
And I doubt Roy...
Connolly, Hecht, Kotalik, Afinagenov...
Those guys ALL go before Vanek
And we'd still have been loaded up front |

we would have been loaded up front- only if the referees called the game like they did in 05/06. thats a big if. once the game changed, a gas can and a match should have been taken to the team. its a lot like having a football team that really wants to run the freaking ball in 2016. |

Not really. The facts say otherwise.
Show me where Darcy proved he could build one championship team. Show me where he had the ability to make the right moves to improve on an already good team and not adding Bob Corkum...
If they kept Drury and Briere the best asset the 05-06 and 06-07 Sabres teams had would be gone and that was forward depth. - Stripes77
is it possible that ruff was a lot better than he is generally given credit for? i mean the guy never had any offense to work with. |
