I wonder how people would react if they changed the NCAA rules for hockey to match the NFL/NBA where players enrolled in college are unable to be drafted and if they intend to leave, they declare for the draft. So Vesey, Demko, Boeser, etc. wouldn't belong to any NHL team until they decided they want to turn pro and are put into the draft with the Matthew's, Laine's etc.

I would be really interested to see the strategy involved. On one hand, you get a younger player if you take a CHL or Euro player, one you can develop. The other side is taking a more developed college prospect who is likely older.

Personally I like the free agent aspect of the college route, but I wouldn't be against seeing how declaring would impact the draft

Everyone talks about the college player becoming a ufa as a loop hole, but if you are a college player with good college numbers, it sounds stupid not to go the ufa route and go for the cash, control your destiny.

having the older college players in the draft would sure add a wrinkle to the system and might eventually push the junior drafting age back a year.

If I was an agent for a college player that looked ready to step into an NHL lineup, it sounds like a no brainer to put off signing and wait to become ufa. If the college player needs more developing, you just sign with whoever drafted you.

a little honesty is always welcome unless your are being honest about a team's shortcomings or naming names...

I remember, "we choked " and thought it was one of the most honest answers a captain could give, yet Naslund was tarred and feathered for it. and we wonder why hockey players give canned answers.

I pvr and ffwd through commercials and sometimes just keep going and rewind if it looks like I missed anything interesting. I watched all of the first two periods last night but the third was hard to take.

The empty net goals against (haven't seen many for in awhile) are getting to be a bit much, salt in the wound.
